LPTP-LVR:My name is janik (but Janok is nice too hehe :))
Hmm.. i tried to convince Dell to get me black one too.. the Dell rep told me it will probably be black (after all it says "BACK LCD.." - so i would presume they mean the BACK of the LCD..).

Thanks for your answer - I'll have to see when I get it sometime next week :)

Is your problem crackling, chopping, or the like or is it just the thin sound from a tin can issue? If it's the sound from a tin can issue there is something in the driver settings that will fix that or at least I was able to fix it on my E6500. Sadly, I had more severe sound and video problems, so my computer is gone back to Dell so I can't look to see exactly what I did, but try playing with some of the settings in your control panel. Seems there was something that had a box checked and when I unchecked it I got normal sound.

Since the sound card still isn't too impressive, I went ahead and got the SOund Blaster X-Fi Express card. It still only has mini analong out, but the sound depth is FAR superior to the IDT, you get equalizer adjustability, AND the best part is a wireless receiver option which I LOVE! AFAIK it's the only card under $100. Your next step is a professional card which will set you back $300 or more.

Yep...the tin can issue, can be fixed by disabling onboard speakers when connected to external output and sounds just like any other notebook to me,its a little bit of a pain to do,but I don't really listen to that much music anyway.
I was going to buy a soundcard, but its not really worth it for my use anyway, but thanks for your thoughts:)

    Hi
I have had my M4400 for couple of weeks now and well pleased with it performance. But not sure what dvd media is best with the burner it has

I have the TSST Corp DVD+-RW TS-U6 33A burner in it. Does any other M4400 owner out there have the same dvd drive and can recommend a good make of DVD discs that seem to burn well on this dvd burner?!
I want to buy bulk and dont want to end up with loads of coasters! Dell Support have stated that most discs work fine which really isnt much help!
cheers for any info or help
    ful

Not sure about what works best in that particular drive, but I go through many DVDs in my business and I use Taiyo Yuden DVD and CDs with very good success.
