    Well my fingers are crossed, my order states:

    320-6997 1 Black Wide Screen WUXGA LCD for Latitude M4400

    In the display line.

    So, yea after as many times as I explained my concern regarding the display and as many times as the rep confirmed that it is the RGB LED during the ordering process.............

    Ship date is 11/18/2008, so I will update here when I get the thing and take a look at it.

    HI,
    Been reading this forum for quite some time before my puchase of the Latitude E6500. Since the 6500 ran very bad for me and had an defect wlan card i returned it and looked for the M 4400 instead.

    I am a person who spends a lot of time in Photoshop, Illustrator and other creative applications - and the main reason to get a laptop is to be able to work mobile.

    Therefore I decided to get the RGB LED version of the M 4400 (the M 6400 and Vaio AW are too expensive and too large for me).

    Since no information about when the RGB LED was out on dell's site, I called them - and after some asking the rep told me he could offer me the RGB LED screen for an extra 2700 danish kroner (approx 458 USD).

    Now i have got the order confirmation and it says:
    Display : 15.4in Widescreen WUXGA (1920X1200) Antiglare with RGB LED
    LCD Back Cover : Black Finish with RGB LED

    so.. the RGB LED is NOT glossy.. which souits me very well :)
    But.. does "LCD Back Cover : Black Finish with RGB LED" mean that my LCD back cover will be black an in same style as my previous E6500 ? (a design i like much better than the silver one)

    Also i ordered my M 4400 with GPS - can anyone tell me if that GPS will work with e.g. google maps? or have anymore information about the GPS device.

    Hope I contributed a little to the "RGB LED-mystery" - and someone can answer my GPS question.

    :)

    quite interesting - though the price difference looks strange from you two.

    150$ to 450$ ?

    I am in Kentucky, USA. I was online playing with the customizer and decided to call and find out what I could about the RGB LED's availability.

    I called Dell Biz, Pam at extension - 9462579

    Tell her the display freak photographer sent you.....lol

    I would wait though till I get this one and see, shows how much confidence that I have that they are shipping the RGB LED, and I don't think that option is only going to be $149 over the base display anyway.

    High end desktop monitors with this technology are still thousands of $.

    "The LaCie 720, 724, and 730 monitors are available through the LaCie Online Store, LaCie Reseller+ or LaCie Color Partner at the suggested retail price of $2040, $2900, and $5850 (USD)." (20" - 24" and 30")

    "NEC MultiSync LCD2180WG-LED-BK 21" LED LCD Computer Monitor - Black

    * Mfr#
    * LCD2180WGLEDBKSV
    * B&H# NE2180WGBK

    * Price: $ 6,349.95"

    Samsung link below has some good explanations & visuals - add www
    samsung.com/he/products/monitor/intelligent/xl20.asp

    "In fact, the SpectraView 2180WG-LED is one of the rare monitors that can claim to fully cover the Adobe RGB
    color space, which is much more demanding than the traditional sRGB."
    Quoted about a high-end desktop monitor, but demonstrates the achievement of reproducing 100% Adobe RGB. And an article from from several years ago.
    tomshardware.com/reviews/a-revolution,1160-5.html - add www

    Anyway, it's only money.
