    My experience with the keyboard:

I have an e6400 for work with a non-back lit keyboard. It's wonderful to type on! But my m4400 back-lit kb was pretty spongy. Call Dell and they overnighted a replacement. The replacement had had something dropped on it at the factory - the left bracket (where you screw it in) was bent 90 degrees and it had a "bubble" on the whole left side. But the right side was better than the one it came with. Called Dell back and got a 2nd replacement. It's much better than the one it came with but still not as good as my e6400's, but I'm getting used to it - the back light is great.

    :D Hello all :D

I'm ambitious to be joining you all on the M4400 owners forum :p

I've got a used M4400 on the way (ebay) and should be receiving my Q9100 today

The M4400 I found should have a WUXGA, T9600, 4GB, 160GB HDD, 5300 wifi, Backlit keyboard, and a 9 cell batt. All of the parts have yet to be verified, but these items corispond to the service tag... If they do then I'm lloking pretty good for $680 shipped ;) If not then at least I have some funds left over to upgrade what it does have.

I have only one issue so far, the last owner never returned a faulty m4400 (for which this was the replacement), so the lappy has been "flagged" at Dell... I'll see if I can talk to customer service and get the matter straightened out?

Anyway I'm still looking forward to the upgrade from my E1705. I have plans for 8gb platinum low latency ram, X25-M G2 80GB SSD, a caddy for the OEM HDD, and a M1616 external sound card for some audio stuff.

Ok, my first round of questions.

    1) Do any of you quad core m4400 owners know if there is a way (BIOS, RMClock, ect) to shut off two cores while in power saving mode?

    2) Again QC owners, do you find the same trends with different BIOS versions as the dual core owners seem to see? (i.e. temps, behavior, ect)

    3) Have ANY of you tried using an SSD (sata) in the internal mini pci express card slot? I understand it's set up for a intel flash cache memory module that is primarily used with a standard HDD to speed things up. I'm curious about it for use with an SSD as a ~mini drive~ for programms that do alot of temporary storage i.e. write-delete-write-delete (web brousing, single track audio editing, and the like).

Hmmmm...i hope you're actually getting the replacement and not the faulty one. Why would he hold on to the faulty one and sell the replacement? Customer service will probably tell you it wasn't his too sell because he still owes them a lappy :(

like your soundcard btw....got the same ;)....you did mean a 1616m iso M1616 right?
