Well...have a look at the driver page itself. A lot of the categories named in the info bit are nowhere on the driver page. for instance:
"Touchpad, Pointer, Trackstick, Mice, and Keyboards - Enhances the pointing device features. This is located under the Mouse & Keyboards Category on the Drivers and Downloads page."
there is no mouse & keyboards category!! I know i need to go to "input device drivers" category...that's the only name there...would be a lot easier if their naming would correspond or even, put drivers up in the order they should be installed!! Lol....that's a bright idea, then we wouldn't even need the list ;)

So again ;) Do i need the software in the "System Utilities" category or the "System Management" category??? Both would qualify in name as being Notebook System Software said to be located in the "System and Configuration Utilities Category" which is actually non-existent....very logical ;)

Dell-utility/system software version 6.0.3,A00 is the one,the dell-utility/systems management 03172008,A01 is optional for power management.

Yeah it isn't really laid out all that well is it.

No luck with the cardbus yet but i was wondering. Is reinstalling the drivers even any use if it wasn't a fresh OS install anymore?
If any of you want to take a look i'll post the list in which order i installed the specific drivers and apps, if you have time please tell me if i made any mistakes.

    thx guys :)

so here it is...please correct me if wrong ;)

installed everything in this order...category names in blue (as mentioned on the driver download page)

System Utilities...or System and Configuration Utilies?
    Dell - utility....system software
Dell - Utility....recommended Vista Power Management Settings

    Chipset
    Intel - Driver...Mobile chipset
    Ricoh - Driver....R5C847

    Video
    nVidia - Driver....Quadro FX 770M

    Network
Intel - Driver....825xx Gigabit Platform LAN Network Device
Intel - Diagnostics Utility....825xx Gigabit Platform LAN Network Device
Intel - Application....825xx Gigabit Platform LAN Network Device
(I don't have the bluetooth module or the minicards mentioned on the site)

    Audio
    IDT - Driver....92HDxxx HD Audio

    Communication
    No modem in my laptop

    Network
    Intel(R) WiFi Link 5300

Input Device Drivers...or Mouse & Keyboards?
    Dell - Driver....Touchpad/pointing Stick

Then the tutorial just say install all other devices so...here's how i continued.

    SATA Drives
Intel - Driver...Matrix Storage Manager. Downloaded and i just get a folder with files, no installer or anything...what to do with these?
    Intel - Application....Matrix Storage Manager

    System Management
    Dell - Application....OpenManage Client Instrumentation

    Diagnostics
Dell - Diagnostics Utility....32 Bit Diagnostics (GUI version)

After that i installed everything from the Applications category but somehow the Dell "ControlPoint Connection Manager" Doesn't install. In the tutorial the PCMCIA card is specifically mentioned to be located in the "Security" category....surprise, surprise...that category doesn't exist!! Could it have to do with the Dell "ControlPoint Security Manager"? I didn't install that because i didn't want to have the fingerprint reader enabled. Doesn't seem to have anything to do with the PCMCIA card but it's the only part in the driver page where security is even mentioned so, am i wrong?

Please help me out here.....if this list is correct (after your feedback)i'm thinking of doing one last fresh OS install :(

    thx people!

Hi all, among the ppl that have the WXGA+LED screen, did any of you have any big problems with it, that demanded replacing?
Are the colours and such ok? Is it comfortable to work with it for several straight hours?

And a last thing do the ppl who own it would recommend the M4400 as a solid machine (quality and construction-wise) capable of doing the work it is supposed to be? (act as a decent workstation that is)
    Tnx!

    (I am obviously considering buying a M4400! : ) )

    P.S
I posted the same question at I♥RAM's very nice review :)
