    I use vLite'd Vista Business 64.

    Here's the driver order:

Intel mobile chipset rev: a00 (system driver)
nVidia QuadroFX770M video driver (video driver)
idt 92hdxxx hd audio (audio driver)
    Ricoh r5c847 (system driver)
825xx Gigabit Platform LAN NEtwork Device (network utility)
Wireless WLAN 1397 [ or whatever card you have, could be 15xx ] MiniCard (network driver)

... then the drivers of your choice.

    @weegie...and everyone ;)

Screen is going fine. They we're coming on friday but cancelled because they had no screens in stock. Later on friday they called me to ask if they could come by monday and they were bringing both the Philips LG and the Samsung screen. Service is excellent...they asked if i would like an appointment in the morning or afternoon and they will call me on the day to confirm a certain time so i don't have to wait around all day :)

I've been doing a LOT of 3D work in 3dsmax and it works great!! I don't do animation that much but mainly interior design so i have a lot of scenes with LOADS of raytrace materials etc. I tried some stuff i've done in the past and know very well to see how much difference this thing makes. Can't really give exact numbers but i know i'll be working a lot faster from now on :D

Besides that i can confirm all the positive reviews others have given...build quality is excellent...feel very solid. Looks are great imho. I LOVE the wavy lid ;) which is definetly ag alloy...no plastic. And the parts that are plastic feel very good as well. I think it kinda makes sense having a plastic palmrest etc. as it won't get nearly as hot as metal. I also have an Asus V6Va which get's pretty hot down there.

I just started a new thread about a problem i did encounter. Pretty serious one for me actually. If i insert a pcmcia card (an e-mu 1616m audio card) it disables the intel wireless card. I have to take out the cardbus card and reboot to get internet going again. If any of you tried using a pcmcia card let me know if that worked. I did get all the right driver for vista 64 so no clue what's wrong really. I'll ask the guy who'se comin monday if he can sort it ;)

    So errr...what else....

Been playing crysis for abit to check how it works....smooth enough with everything on medium at 1920x1200 (external Dell monitor) :D ...just don't like the game that much :p
Stays pretty cool throughout a couple of hours though, fan kicks in but that's about it.

Keyboard feels very nice, no skipping in the touchpad as mentioned by others. I don't really use the trackpoint but it works...i checked ;)

USB ports are indeed pretty tight, especially the e-sata/usb port but i got it in easy enough. At least u can be sure the usb wont slide out when you move your laptop

    any specific questions maybe?

    cheers

Has anyone been able/attempted to dual boot XP and Vista using the discs that Dell provides? My M4400 will be delivered on Monday (hopefully :D) and I do plan on dual-booting the two.

@LTP-LVR: Could you perhaps run 3DMark 06 at the standard 1280x1024 post a score? I'll be running it on my external WSXGA+ display and was looking for a number to compare my scores to! :p

I know you didnt ask me but just incase you wanted to know the FX770M on here scores ~5900-6000 in 3DMark06. Lots of tweaking of Vista, but not sure if that helped. Stock Dell drivers.

Where's my friggin' RGB LED, DELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think I might just order a Sony AW premium - it has an 18.4" Adobe RGB LED display (WUXGA, of course).

I bet it is flawless as Sony makes the best displays in the business:)

Dell, you are on my last nerve. I have been loyal the past 10 years and have spent lots of money.... But, alas, you are too slow in bringing products to market:(

I've already seen your scores. :p

I was specifically looking for 1280x1024 to compare it with other cards like the 9600M GT and the 9700M GT, since 1280x1024 is considered the standard resolution for 3DMark 06.

Unless you have the pro or retail version (not the free one), you can only run it at that resolution.
