    Guys can you tell me what touchpad the 4400 comes with? If you don't mind please check your device manager, under Mice and other pointing devices.
    Basic gist is that I'm very seriously considering the M4400 however if its using an alps touchpad I won't go near it. I've supported Latitudes in the past that use Alps up to the 8xx series and I'm going to be blunt. I'd sooner shoot my hands off then use Alps. Something about the touchpads. Drives me inside how...mushy I would say is the closest word. Invariably I need to switch over to an external mouse because it impact that amount of time it takes me to setup a new system.

    @SiliconAddict....yes,mine is an ALPs....so you won't be wanting one and your hands will be safe :D

    Free version of 3dmark with a 1440x900 will run the benchmark at 1280x800 because it can't fill the horizontal pixels of 1024....giving a higher score than someone with a 1920x1200 screen,as that will run the free version at 1280x1024 like sleey0 say's.

    @danao,should be fine on the subway unless your jammed in like sardine's ;)

    @LPTP-LVR,good to hear your happy with your purchase and glad to hear Dell is sorting your screen issues....never heard of them bringing two panels before,but thats great as you will be able to give everybody your opinion on them both.
    Sorry I can't help you with the pcmcia card woe's though,I was considering buying either a pcmcia or express sound card,but haven't looked at it any further.

    @Klamerek....your welcome:)

    @weegie

    I saw you posted the recommended order to install drivers somewhere, right? could you put a link here? I found the topic on the Dell website but the site doesn't actually take me there. Going to try to reinstall al the drivers to see if that works. Thx

    mmmm,can't remember that,but the dell system software utility is what your supposed to install first according to the notes.......I usually install the chipset after that.

    Have you tried uninstalling the dell controlpoint stuff also?

    Here you go:

    - After the OS is installed, you should install any service
    packs (if available).
    - Next, install the NSS (Notebook System Software)
    - Chipset
    - Video (nvidia or intel)
    - Sound
    - Network
    - Modem
    - Ricoh (SD/Mem card reader)
    - Wifi
    - Any other DRIVERS you may have
    *Make sure you reboot if asked*

    Once that is done, then you can install any software (ie quickset or control point) in whatever order you want.

    + Rep would be nice, guys:)

    btw...the NSS...which exact app is that? Is it under System Management or System Utilities? It doesn't say Notebook System Software anywhere....They should really give tips that actually corresapond to the name of the software on their own site ;)

    Also forgot to mention,although nobody is probably interested:rolleyes: ,that the coolslice is listed on the US site now here http://search.dell.com/results.aspx?s=bsd&c=us&l=en&cs=04&k=coolslice&cat=all&x=8&y=12

    Hopefully they are going to be available for everywhere else also,pretty cheap at $50 USD for a magnesium snap on passive cooling tray that should match your M4400/E6500 perfectly and is less than 1/4" thick.

    Beats trying to keep your air vents unobstructed all the time imo.

    LPTP-LVR ......http://supportapj.dell.com/support/...mID=PREC_M4400&hidos=WLH&hidlang=en&TabIndex=

    listed here under System utilities>Dell-utility
