I just reconfigured my future M4400 -- The X9100 upgrade is $700 from Dell. I can get that cpu on ebay for ~$400.

So, I'll probably get a "P" series C2D w/the M4400 and take it out, sell it, and buy the X9100.

I wish someone was selling the QX9300 on ebay because that is what I really want.

Oh, and did I mention the RGB LED??? :)

    Hello everybody :)
This is my first post :)
I have an usb hdd (WD 250GB), and with my Dell Latitude D600 there is a power problem - disk often fails to recognize, becouse it needs more power than my usb ports have.

    Well, I plan to buy a new laptop - M4400 :)
Can anybody use M4400 with external usb hdd ? Is there any problems with power ?

    Sorry for my English :)

USB is a standard, and these notebooks would be running USB port's specced just like any other company. Either there is a problem with your hard drive, or you bought a 3.5" model which must be run on AC power.

    WOOOOOOO!!
My M4400 just came in....15 min. ago....first impression!?!?

BRILLIANT PIECE OF MACHINERY....i think i'm in love :p

    one HUGE downside....THE LCD :(
They put the SEC5443 (samsung) 15,4 WUXGA 2CCFL screen on it, VERY irregular lighting, 2-3cm wide bar of lightbleed at the bottom of the screen. I'm calling right away to get it replaced for the LG panel.....dammit, opting for the best screen available (RGBLED wasn't there ;) ) and that's the only thing wrong with it. I'll report about how it's handled later but i have faith in my rep ;)

bah - I was hoping when the M6500 came out that they would also release some of the upgrades to the m4400 - no dice.

I am waiting on RGBLED and the FX1700 (or whatever upgraded graphics)

meh - I really want something with a dock, and the m15x looks too cheap/plasticy.

+ I have a quad core desktop for real gaming....

    1) Go into device manager and read the properties of the Plug n Play monitor.
    3) Dell supposedly doesnt give out 64bit versions of XP.
    4) Look up les's tweaks and tips thread (windows OS thread) and use vlite.

Dell DOES give out 64bit in Europe...complete with recovery dvd + all 64bit drivers on cd. No idea why they don't do the same in the US....you can't even select 64bit in the config menu there it seems.
