    Power Slice Question

I'm concerned about the long-term life of the Power Slice. Has anyone cracked one open to see which Li-ion cells it uses, and whether they are readily available? I'd like to be able to rebuild it with new cells when that time comes.

If you purchase Vista Business or Vista Ultimate, you can request the 64-bit DVD at no charge from Dell. There are threads about this on this forum if you search.

Yes, I just received my OEM Vista 64 bit Disk Next-Business-Day from Dell. :D

    Google Dell-Chris_M, what a lifesaver.

Yeah, so easy to change GPU clocks in Nvidia System Tools... my machine also came with some strange "stock" values stored to the default osbootpf.nsu profile.

Case in point, the GPU clocks you see in my sig have the best OC balance I have found, but I have NO idea where they came from! Just appeared when I was switching profiles. I don't have a "find optimum clocks" button as some have mentioned... Has anyone else experienced something like this?

And btw Togra, what kind of temps are you seeing with the 1700M @ 733/1000/1600? 770M hits 85C to produce 7313 3DMarks @ OC 675/920/1685:

Well, they installed a new screen yesterday. Problem persists. Not having the sunlight in my office, I was able to replicate the problem by holding the flame from a light near that portion of the screen in the middle on the right.

So - now they are going to do the shotgun effort. Tomorrow they will be coming back with a new mobo, another screen, new memory, a new gpu, and a new heatsink.

    Talk about some precision diagnostics.

    Hi folks,

I have been in touch with Dell regarding the overheating and thermal pad issue and they have asked me to gather all evidence I can of people having overheating problems with their GPUs, whether they still have them or solved them through the copper mod.

All of those that have such issues, could you please take the time to post in this thread?

    Thanks in advance!

So I have tested mine FX770M @ 600/900/1650 and have 7158 in 3DMark06 1280x800. Max GPU temperatures during the test were GPU 73C and CPU 56C :) I have no cooling mods, just stock laptop.

That's quite amazing. It appears that the stock thermal solution is quite prone to failing to conduct heat properly, although it IS possible to make it work.

Yeah, thats running pretty cool under load, seems that yours is well put together. Would you mind recording temps during 5+mins orthos stress test?
