just got my m4400! display is great, much nicer than my d820. still installing/copying data so i haven't gotten to use it yet.

one thing so far - the keyboard is a "mushy" - worse on the left side. i've got a e6400 for work and the keyboard is great, but this is 180 degress in the opposite direction.

You could and should complain to Dell, they should give you a replacement. Most users here report good keyboards IIRC.

Is it the backlit keyboard or regular?
From what I gathered over the last few weeks of reading this thread the backlit keyboard is superior to the regular one.

Just got a pretty solid deal off the outlet...hope there's nothing wrong with it because it seemed comparatively cheap to similarly specced ones for some reason.

I don't use it,only benefit's IRRT if you have a second HD in the bay or through eSata....can't use RAID 0 or 1 with two drive's in the notebook,so it's a waste of time imo.

I've been happily using the E6400 for about six months, but I no longer have the same portability requirement, and can finally consider a bigger screen
    notebook.

I would like a fast quad core processor, and 64 bit Vista. So the M4400 seems like the obvious choice.

It is strange that there seems to be no options in Dell's online customizers for 64 bit Vista on the M4400, at least none I could find.

What is the best way to buy from Dell anyway? I doubt there are any quad core machines in the outlet store.

You should call them and ask for 64-bit Vista, I'm sure they can do it.

And you'd be surprised at what comes up at the Outlet. Stuff comes up and goes away VERY quickly, make sure you check it at least daily (several times a day is ideal).

Always call them. Dell's website is surprisingly horrible compared to other online shops. On the phone, you have many more options than you get online.
