SS2 was released in 2005 optimized for PC originally requiring a 64MB card with OpenGL capabilities. You're 770M should eat that game like nothing.

And the famous lockup issue for me, -never- occured during video playback (youtube, online videos, games). So it's unclear. But don't look for the issue, be happy if it doesn't lockup now. My new M4400 has been sailing so smooth at high performance :D

I seriously discourage you use those clocks. 777/925/1780 is extremely high and you run the risk of frying that card on a real game. Test it for an hour or two on a recent game, the fact that you're laptop produces quad-core heat inside in a 15.4" system is what makes me a little nervous about those speeds. I got 7805 on a dual core but with much lower clocks. What are the temperature readings for that?

Actually I take it back, don't test that on a real game. Restore to defaults first to measure your GPU temperature on an intensive game and then see how high you can push it without frying. But even with GPU temperature reading software you can't read the temperatures of VRAM...

    wow almost 8,000.

ram: i want to find out if my computer has a problem, because i do play games and i dont want it hanging on me. just been a bit busy this past month.

Is medal of honour airborne enough to stress it? also, do you mind suggesting a utility to monitor temps? cheers :)

I posted in the first post of this page that it's not clear when the locking up actually occurs. I also posted that it -never- occurred during any type of video playback or rendering (eg. youtube or games). If it hasn't locked up in 7-10 days, I'd say thats good enough to declare it as a non-defective system. My new M4400 has been running faster than the older one for 5-6 days, overclocks like a charm and it's perfect so far. I don't feel "stressing it" will help you determine whether or not the lockup issue pertains to your system, but if you insist, it never hurts to try.

The game you suggested is just fine, as Sept. 2007 is fairly somewhat recent for graphics. To monitor general temperatures, you have many options. I've used HWMonitor (CPUID) which monitors your entire system, or you can use I8KFanGUI which you can quickly configure to display temperatures to show memory, cpu, gpu and hardrives - as well as control your fan speed. It's an awesome utility for Dell's business models and very configurable. Pump the settings to all medium on that game, play in average scenes (meaning dont run around staring at the ground expecting to raise temps) with explosions and a fair amount of rendering involved. Monitor the temperatures, see if the GPU is below 80C and up the settings if you want. 80C - 85C should be the absolute maximum allowed for the 770M, as GPU life starts to quickly degrade when you pass this "roof". The cooler the system in general, the longer the system lives.

i tried installing i8kfangui as i used that program before on my inspiron 8600. but im running vista 64 and it wont let me install it due to unsigned driver. any idea how to get round this? i tried searching the forums, the "official" way to do it via cmd prompt apparently dosent work anymore due to os updates, and some other ways i found seem a bit dodgy cos it involves installing what seem to be patches.
is there an option in vista where you can disable it without having to install patches? cheers

have heard a couple of other people say they have no luck trying to get i8fangui to work with V64 also....maybe just use HWmonitor as I*Ram suggested

Me also........good you got a nice high score finally though.

How do you find the difference in speed with your applications and such between the Quad and the previous M4400 you had.?
I don't have the option on my local website to configure the quad core, but the X9100 upgrade is worth more than half of the purchase price I paid for my whole notebook:(
