I ordered with only the unix operating system - which I quickly discarded. I know for sure you have to set the BIOS to AHCI (and away from the default RAID setting). After that, my memory is a little fuzzy - I may have had to copy the Samsung 960 NVME drivers onto the USB boot drive so they could be loaded with the "F6" method. It's important to do a speed test after installing to make sure you're getting 3500MB read/2000MB write speeds - if not, you could be using a default Windows driver. Google installing the Samsung 960 on a laptop, that's what I did and it was a big help. Also, I overrode my natural instinct to just put Windows Server on the laptop because Windows 10 is far better for virtualization on a laptop. With the Samsung 960 pro, I can save 4-5 VMs to disk very very quickly when I need to, so this is VERY much worth the trouble to do this.

Thank you for the information! I did some additional reading today and discovered the Samsung 960 Pro now comes with cloning software (or at least they have it available for free download). I'm going to have Win 10 loaded by Dell. It sounds like the Samsung software may do the job to transfer from the HD to the SSD. Good suggestion on the speed test to verify drivers, I will do that.

    1. I think it would be best if you reinstall Windows 10 on the SSD and just format the 1TB spinning disk, its pretty easy. What I do when doing a fresh windows 10 install is just to download Dell Command update and just the one driver to get the Ethernet Port working, Windows 10 is pretty good in getting all of your devices running. There might be a device or two missing a driver when you are done with updates but it should be easy getting them from the Dell support website.

    2. Unless something recently has changed, you can get the Windows 10 installer from the Microsoft website and place it into a USB stick. The USB stick on the Dell website is for recovery purposes only, not fresh installs.

as i mentioned in my previous post, my new 7520 FHD Non-Touch display has a mild but definite yellowish tint to it.

i checked the 7510 owner's thread and it seems that some people there also have had that issue.
in fact reddit and dell official forums are full of people having such issues on precision, xps and even inspiron models.
and this seems to happen on both FHD and UHD displays

anyone with any ideas/solutions for this?

    Only two options.
    1. Contact Dell and have them replace the screen. They shouldn't hassle you much over this, the question is, will the new one be better?
    2. Source a better panel and replace it yourself.

What is the purpose of the Dell Premiere Color application? It makes everything look absolutely like SH** on my 7720 and 7710. Colors are too yellow, and there is an extreme amount of banding on dark and black colors. Soon as I removed this garbage everything looked perfect.

Hi, i'm going to buy a 7520 or 5520 from my local dell. And i was reading some past in this forum.
I have few question and hope someone could help me :)

    1. I was consider latitude 7480, but hear that it have coil whine issue, so is it also happen on 5520 and 7520?
    2. Xeon E3-1535M and E3-1505M are very close , looks like the only difference are clock speed. So, if only for running VM lab, then it should have no difference? or i should go for E3-1535M?
    3. Looks like i could choose Radeon Pro WX 4130 & 4150 on my country, compare with Quadro M2200 any recommandation?

    Thank You
