RAM and storage tend to be save for "configure minimum at Dell and buy known HW elsewhere". At least for the larger Precisions which use screws instead of glue ;-)

Indeed, for the 7X20 Precisions, adding a new SSD is really easy... So if you want a specific model SSD, just buy it yourself, it will be cheaper anyway.

Yes it require almost no dismantling, only removal of battery cover. The case for 2,5" harddrive is fixed by 4 screws.
I have m2 drive for work and 2.5" SSD for private. Both with windows 10. In Disk Management you can put the other harddrive to "Offline" state.

Nice machine. Only thing that is a bit disappointing is the small Enter key and the loose touchpad keys at the bottom......and headphone socket + 3 times USB is at the right side where my mouse is.

Yes, I understand that one can buy the SSD separately.
But for those who chose to buy from Dell, this seems unfair.
Despite paying the same price and guaranteed the same minimum specs, different users will be getting such variable performance.

Toshiba XG3: Sequential specifications show Read upto 2400MB/s and write upto 1500MB/s.
Samsung SM 961: Sequential specifications Read upto 3100 MB/s and write upto 1400 MB/s.

I think I saw/read about heat dissipation panels that attach to the M.2's? Do these come with the bare laptop or is Dell only adding that to factory installed M.2's?

These come with the system whether you purchase an M.2 drive or not. I think that you will need to source the single screw needed to mount the M.2 drive, though, that doesn't come with the system if you do not purchase an M.2 drive.

Hi Aaron, Actually, my laptop arrived with both mounting screws in both empty M.2 bays. Everything was ready for me to install my Samsung 960.

    Hi all,

Just got my 7520. I have not yet done any benchmark tests or other observations.
But the Immediate problem I can see is the Ýellow tint over the entire display. And it is much more pronounced on the right and left edges.
I checked this with another display and clearly the 7520's display has a yellowish tint.

    Display - Part Details:
    391-BDDT ----> 15.6" UltraSharp FHD IPS(1920x 1080) Panel 300nits Brightness
R9P60 ----> LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY, 15.6FHD, AG, EDP1.3, AU OPTRONICS CORP

I checked the 7510 owner's thread and this issue has been reported there as well.

Do you think I should ask for a replacement? If yes, how do I convince them the display is bad? Would they be ok if I just told them that the display ýellowish?

@Aaron44126, I saw that you had a similar issue with the 7510, looking forward to your valuable suggestions on this issue too.

Hi, I'm about to order a 7720 and plan on adding a Samsung 960. I'm planning on ordering the 7720 with the 1TB 7200 rpm HD and the two SSD drive bays empty (no 2nd or 3rd drive in the configurator). I've been pondering the best way to either transfer the Dell pre-loaded system from the 1TB dell pre-installed HD, or re-load the whole thing, presumably from the "windows 10 on USB" configurator option I'm going to buy. As for transferring the OS the thing that comes to mind is using"clone/"optimize for SSD" in EaseUS.

Just curious, what method did you use to load the OS on the new 960? Or anyone else too, for that matter, feel free to chip in on thoughts on the best way(s) to load up the new 960 in one M.2 bay as C:.

I actually have plowed through pages 10 though 54 of this thread over the past few days, but I may have missed a relevant post in all of that. If so, please give me the pointer. Thanks!

On my 7510, I ordered the non-IPS display by mistake, and it was a dreadful display. (I don't think that this is an option in the 7520.) I ended up replacing the screen without Dell involved, because to get an IPS display, I would have to return and re-order the system with a different display.

Anyway, in the office we had some M4800s show up with yellowish displays, and we just complained to Dell until they replaced them with good ones. You should be able to get them to replace the display without much hassle. It helped that we had a "good" display to compare it to and you could sit them side-by-side and clearly see the difference.
