    1. If you have switchable graphics disabled, the Intel GPU is not used. When switchable graphics is turned on, all displays are run by the Intel GPU, and the NVIDIA GPU is used for rendering support only. With the "Discrete graphics controller direct output mode", extra ports like the DisplayPort will be driven by the NVIDIA GPU directly with the Intel GPU out of the loop.

    2. Try this one (if it's different from what you already have).

You might have to modify the latest 64bit driver to work with your laptop and your card look up null's guide on inf modding

You should absolutely *not* be required to modify the INF to install the driver for the GPU that came in your system.

You can easily check to see if your device is in the driver INF. It should be listed in both the drivers from Dell and from NVIDIA. You can check for yourself, though.

Go to Device Manager and find your NVIDIA GPU. Go to the "Details" tab and select the property "Hardware IDs". Look at the first line.
    PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_11BC&SUBSYS_053F1028&REV_A1

Note the underlined characters (from my Quadro K5000M in this case). A corresponding line in the INF file looks like...
    NVIDIA_DEV.11BC.053F.1028 = "NVIDIA Quadro K5000M"

There are a few different INF files so you might have to look in more than one to find the entry with your device.

If you can't get the driver to install, start by ringing up Dell support on the phone, they should be able to help you even if your machine shipped with Linux. It's possible that since this GPU is so new, something about the drivers hasn't been quite worked out yet.

Precision 7520 ordered and UK delivery expected on 1st June. Have specified M.2 PCIe drive. Would like to add Samsung 850 EVO SSD myself. Assuming this is possible, can anybody point me to instructions / videos / etc?

It should have the combo but that driver was 32bit only....

I just thought of something try loading your os in non signed driver mode and try installing the 64bit driver that way

Problem solved by letting windows update complete fully.
In command prompt the command "VER" showed:
    Before: 10.0.10240
    After: 10.0.14393
(I thought I had all windows update installed)

    :)

I see, I didn't think the driver would require anniversary edition or later

Can others who own a Precision 7x20 share the details of the Class 50 SSDs on their laptop?
