    no.. planning to get one... and since Dell refuses to take any responsibility, calibration is the only option I'm left with

    Good and necessary step. If Dell take any responsibility or not: Without hardware calibration you will never get the best performance from any display. And you have to repeat the calibration (monthly or a little bit slower) and you will have to work under defined light conditions - the human eye isn't really the best.

    Maybe you are total beginner, not troll, so I try to explain you some things. White colour on displays is subjective and may have yellow or blue tint. It depends on colour temperature which you choose.

    Every display may have yellow tint at every moment. Just change the colour temperature (white balance point) much below 6500K. In that case you simulate white balance point of sunrise or sunshine, but in artificial light display will be yellowish. Do you understand? You must accommodate your display colour temperature to temperature of light around you or to temperature of light you want to simulate.

    Yellow or blue tint is a lack of calibration, not display defect (in 99% of cases), so stop complaining. Dell should not take responsibility for your lack of knowledge.

    My display had a yellow tint, which I noticed only inside the Windows OS. Once I removed the precision premier color application the yellow tint went away.

    The Precision line of laptops are workstations, designed and optimized for professional use. For the price Dell charges, you may expect a proper factory calibrated display.

    Having said that, there are many different lighting conditions (i.e. color temperatures) and it is impossible to calibrate a display for optimal color reproduction under all lighting conditions when the laptop doesn't have an ambient light sensor.

    Hi @karman ,

    I appreciate the fact that you have taken your time to give all the useful information about displays and calibration. Thanks for that.

    But a few things:

    (1) It is a good practical advice to tell people to not waste time with the incompetent Dell support teams. I understand that. But to say that Dell has no responsibility to give proper information when receiving complaints is WRONG. Dell has that responsibility, irrespective of whether the customer has or lacks the prior knowledge about an issue. Please read my original post in that other link, see how much wrong information they have given me, and that too inconsistently. Having paid for their technical support, customers should not be made to go searching forums for the necessary information.

    (2) There have been other people in this forum who have got their displays replaced and found it better than the one originally sent. In fact in this thread too, the advice I was given by other members was to try for a replacement. And they told me that Dell wouldn't hassle me over that. But I did face hassles and hence I decided to report it here.

    (3) I don't know from where you get this statistics that on 99% cases, there is no actual issue with the display. Of course, you could be correct on that. However, your condescending tone is unnecessary. Calling people 'trolls' and 'ignorants' is better avoided. Other forum members and moderators could correct me if I'm wrong here.

    Thanks for that info, but my laptop does not have that application. And I'm able to see the yellow tint even outside the OS, even in the BIOS setup stage

    If it's that obvious then I think a panel swap is worthwhile. The absence of widespread complaints about this problem suggest that you have an outlier. However, calibration is still needed for improve the color rendering.
