More recently I've noticed my A8-3510MX idle as low as 38 degrees Celcius (fan off) but usually its anywhere from 45-55 depending on light-loads. I thought being a 45W APU it would've been a lot hotter but that simply hasn't been the case. Pretty awesome. Battery life is anywhere from 4-5hrs which is great for such an inexpenive notebook. The additional clock & memory speeds sure helps smooth things out. I'm really tempted to get a brand new ULV Trinity notebook (6z Sleekbook, NP535UxC, or S405) but I'm happy with the performance I get from my current setup. I'm so undecided!

Thanks, I'm somewhat mistaken about the heat, alot of it is being generated by the new SSD i switched to. Of course this would affect CPU temps in a small chassis.

The cpu area is actually cool when the processor is idle.

Performance and stability otherwise good, so far no issues. Great cost effective upgrade for this platform.
Since dell doesn't make any trinity devices, this is the fastest IGP setup anyone can get in a dell.
I can't get away from dell since work uses dell stuff across the enterprise and I like being able to reuse the accessories.

Yeah, I'm sure Vostro 3555 has the fastest IGP in Dell laptops and actually it is a great laptop! However I also want a thin, easy laptop as davidricardo86.

Very difficult to find the right one and probably I will have to compromise. The current most attractive is the Samsung Series 5 NP535U4C, with 14", matte screen, optical bay for additional HDD, 9mm HDD room, brushed-aluminium finish, bluetooth, HDMI, awesome looking, turning off fan button (so noiseless with SSD), but no backlit keyboard and one Ram is soldered.

    I found this dell with built in AMD dual graphics and bought it;

Dell Inspiron 15.6" Laptop 6GB Memory 750GB Hard Drive i15RM-4121BK - Best Buy

I initially had alot of trouble getting dual graphics to work, I got the usual problems of screen and texture corruption. I was ready to give up and take the laptop back, however after updating the BIOS and using the very latest 12.9 beta, it seems like performance and quality are acceptable.

My Vostro 3555 with A8-3510MX, 16GB 1600 got 17.7 FPS on Unigine 3.0 benchmark at default

    Inspiron totally stock, A8-3520M crossfired with 6470M, 6GB 1333 got 24.4 FPS

This is 38% better even in spite of my 3555 better cpu and faster memory.

Anyways, I ordered another A8-3510MX to put into the Inspiron to see if I can improve the performance even more.

I ended up sending that laptop back to best buy because i couldn't get crossfire stable.

Also, the Vostro 3555 is dead, Dell killed it. It is no longer available on Dell's website.

This thread hasn't been active for awhile but I hope someone is still listening. I have a Vostro 3555 and in the beginning of the thread a 2nd HD was mentioned. Where you able to find a Caddy that worked good? If so could you give a link? Thanks

Doesn't seem like it's been asked but can a different wifi mini card be installed in this laptop?

Consider I installed (and functioned perfectly) Intel´s relatively recent Dual band Wireless with AC-7260, on an earlier generation of Vostro's 3450.
It was a big improvement and drop outs ceased completely, on its version 15 firmware.
