Wouldn't be worrying about whether its pro or amateurish....you did one which is more than most people including myself have done,I honestly enjoy anybody's reviews/comments about a products performance/suitability for their given use,I think it would be pretty hard for anybody to live up to enducts review,so don't go feeling inadequate or that its some kind of competition.;)

How do you find Solidworks performance?,I find it boringly perfect,as it has been for me on the other three precisions I've had......have had pretty frustrating times on other non quadro notebooks, even very powerful models with this software, and usually end up running it in software openGL mode....not on these baby's though, she's all hardware accelerated goodness:D

Work is boring though:D just about to try FarCry2,been looking foward to trying this for the longest time.;)

To be honest, I haven't even installed the Solidworks drivers from nVidia's website. Modeling runs at such a high speed that you forget how much better the performance is compared to other cards. Boringly perfect it truly is, I can't imagine how the FX 3600 on the M6400 runs it!

actually the heat vent being at the side is pretty annoying. especially since i always put my cup or mobile phone there.

the first time it happened i thought my mobile phone had malfunctioned....then i realised it was the vent that had heated it up

I agree with you there, would have much preferred a rear facing vent,it would be quieter also.....but everybody's in love with putting battery's there now,so I guess that makes it harder to do,although they managed it with the XPS 1530 and some others.

    Thx for the info.

Btw...did anyone try the Maxtreme 11.00.00 drivers for 3ds max form Nvidia?
It says XP64 but seem to run fine for Vista64. On the website there's only choice between 32bit or 64bit...so maybe they're the same for both vista and XP?

Tried the OC'ing.....temp went up to max 68 - min 64 with just surfing etc. Used to run between 54-58....is that normal? Downloading 3dmark06 to get some tests going ;)

I'm reaally wondering what is causing the GPU to run average 10c hotter than before...it's not OC'ed at the moment :( Back to A03...just don't get it.

Posted my 3dmark06 in the fx1700 review thread already but here they are again:

Ok so i just ran the 3dmark06

All default settings (got the free downloadable version ofcourse)

    No OC'ing i got 5257....with OC (620/920) i got 5730

I've seen some higher scores here, what variables should i consider? Running Vista Ult. 64....maybe other apps running? I closed all progs but i could close a lot more processes which are not needed, though that wouldn't give me the typical environment in which i would play games.

Temps reached a max of 89c on the GPU for both OC and non-OC....BIOS A03
does this all seem right, to be honest i don't really have a clue what i'm doing, just wanted to get an idea if everything's running like it should

You will get a lower score than WXGA+ owners, because the free 3dmark will be running at 1280x1024 for a wuxga screen compared to 1280x800 for wxga+.

vista 64 will shave a little bit also.

Your 3dmark score is around what I'd expect.

hey, im considering to order a m4400.
whats your current recommendation, is the notebook top?
im specially interested in the qx9300 variant, are the heating / downlocking problems solved?

another question for the display: i noticed that the 6400 is available with a more color correct display variant - does anyone know if anything is going to be available for the m4400 too? color correctness would be a very big plus, unfortunately i've seen announcements only for 17" models.

    with best regards,

    gordon
