Ya,I did read that thread willy.....but thanks for pointing it out.

Vista definitely won't be going on it any time soon and probably not at all before Windows 7 is around.Cad version doesn't support it and I prefer using the older OS anyway.

If there's no improved sound driver for XP,I will look at an express slot soundblaster card or something, but my guess is that dell will get better drivers at some stage.

Does anyone know if dell will offer 1680x1050 screens in the M4400?

I think that 1920x1200 is too high and 1440x900 is too low. 1680x1050 on a 15,4" would be perfect for me.

To current M4400 owners: do you know if it's possible to dual boot XP and Vista if you choose the XP+Vista option while purchasing the laptop? Or is it setup to only let you "upgrade" to Vista from the XP installation?

The latter. Although if you wanted, you can make a second partition and do it yourself.

Would doubt it,they are already offering 4 screen options.

WSXGA is also my preferred resolution on a 15.4,but I like the WXGA+ as well now that I've tried it and it certainly leaves any of the previous 1680x1050 screens I've had from dell in the dust as far as quality goes, especially with the nice evenly lit LED backlighting, excellent colours and viewing angles.

The WXGA+ LED is one of the stand out things for me personally.......WSXGA would be better though....if the same quality.

My M4400 has a LPL0AA8 LED screen (I think LG?). Does anyone find their whites aren't very clear? It sort of reminds me of the old AUO grainy screen problem.

Also I can't fit any USB devices into the eSATA port. Does anyhone have this problem also?

Lastly, for those who ordered M4400 with XP installed, did you get a Vista licence stuck to the bottom of your computer? Mine has nothing underneath and I find that a bit strange.

Also I can't fit any USB devices into the eSATA port.

Why would you think a USB plug would fit into an eSATA port? Source?
