@cnpt...NP mate......have very mixed feelings about it so far, considering i've waited two years for dell to release this size precision with midrange quadro.

Very hard to try and be objective about something you've just bought after looking forward to it for a long time, but if it didn't have a couple of sloppy fitting parts problems and the audio [which may be a fixable problem] I'd give it 9 out of 10.......as it is, 7 out of ten, having said that,I've never owned a perfect notebook and I'm sure glad I didn't buy the M15X given the amount of complaints about that.

I know I moaned about the build quality, but to keep it in perspective....its still better than the Vostro 1310,1500,M1730 I have had experience with recently, and my crying was purely related to the M65 and M70 which were second only to a ruggedised notebook in my view....but I guess dell are just listening to their customers demanding lighter, thinner notebooks, and concessions to material thickness, fixing points etc have to be made.

BTW,the battery life is incredible, used it for 2 hours last night on brightness +3,wifi on surfing and only went down to 70% capacity.....I have a bit of trouble believing this and will try a timed run down test at some stage, but definitely makes me hanker for the flush fitting 6 cell that my local dell people wouldn't let me configure.

Thanks, weegie. Good for you! I'm looking forward to receiving my unit - hopefully soon!

Quick question: did you order it online from the dell.com New Zealand site...I'm still trying to understand how you could receive yours in 7 days and I'm being told to wait three weeks!!!!

Thanks cnpt,I ordered mine over the phone because you couldn't configure it online [and still can't on the NZ site]

I agree it was fast, normally its exactly ten working days or two weeks, for all my previous delivery's.....Maybe you changed too many things when configuring it as that would probably slow it down a bit?

Mine was a pretty basic spec, and maybe they have stockpiled them.

Have you had any experience with the Express slot sound cards? or the PCMCIA ones.I will probably wait until I hear what a few other users like yourself have to say about the sound before doing anything, but I can't really live with the sound quality as it is.

I don't think my configuration was complex, maybe your fast delivery is because NZ is closer to the factory in Malaysia. Who knows??

I'll let you know my views on the sound once I get mine.

    Thanks again.

My configuration is quite complex, its going to take 3+ weeks to arrive in USA so dont worry that you have 3 weeks for new zealand.

Well this sounds good news about the heat. so its quiet aswell i assume when under all that strain. No reason being is because i own a hp 8510w and a T61p. the 8510w overheats as it has one fan to the cpu and gpu so cooling is poor and always get noisey after gaming. on th eother hand the T61p i dont even notice heat and is still VERY quiet. but has two fans apparently supportin both the gpu and cpu.
So i had to ask cos theres a few laptops with the quadro 770 and didnt want to make a purchase for one on that reason especially as i want the 1700m version for more power so i gotta hang on and see. i no the fujitsu celsisu h270 will also have it but i cantr be sure on there build etc.

Also weegie. wots the stock clock and memory on the 770. thanks in advance

Well the M4400 has only one fan for the GPU and CPU also, and it is surprisingly small in diameter.....you can hear it at the faster speed when gaming but its not as loud as my vostro 1310.
