    lw4pm2jm i got the rgb-led screen.

in my order it is/was stated as a NON glossy. though dell noticed that mistake later and change it to glossy. i got a glossy screen, and so far i was told, that this is the only variant.

about the glossyness: it is considerably better than consumer grade glossy screens from dell. my brother has a common glossy dell and the difference is quite noticeable.
never the less, the screen IS glossy, and hence it is giving you flares. if you're having a bright light source behing of you, you will definatly notice it. although you can argue about how disturbing it is.
please note that the screen is quite bright (and sadly can't be dimmed alot down).

if you're getting an anti glare RGB LED screen please let me know. dell is supposed to change mine as soon as a non glossy version is avaible.

    cheers, gordon

Perhaps this will help you: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showpost.php?p=4674716&postcount=69

However, after you turn on the screen, there's hardly any reflection noticeable. Definitely much less glossy than most other glossy screens. There are two links to two more pictures of another lighting condition inside the following post: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showpost.php?p=4681278&postcount=77
But I have to note that I'm one of the persons who generally prefer glossy screens over matte ones (for the screen quality), reflections don't disturb me at all.

@GordonHo Are they changing your screen for free when it becomes available? What is your faith in Dell following through with that promise? My experience with Dell has been less than stellar thus far, and I can read on a plethora of negative accounts. Would you mind going outside and taking some pictures for me?

@Christoph.krn Thanks for the images. I must say that they are largely not very helpful, as all of them have dim surroundings. However in one photo the glare from the window alone is remarkably significant, and the light emanating from the window doesn't seem very intense at all. It doesn't give me much hope of the screen being usable outdoors.

EDIT: Is there any information on when the matte RGB-LED display will be available?

P.S. Hooray for my fiftieth post! With about 45 questions and 5 answers, you guys are so helpful!

I saw that Dell released a new ISV Nvidia Driver for the 1700m and 770m. Has anyone tried this new one out?

That's why I wrote that the reflections are remarkably less once you turn the screen on. I'm sure that checho could have seen himself in the last two pictures (the ones with dim lighting) had the screen been off. At least that's the case for me in a similar lighting condition.

It is a glossy, glare-reduced screen, unlike most consumer notebook screens (which are just glossy). Matte screens won't be readable in direct sunlight either, and I'd say that this screen is readable whenever a matte one would be. I'd say that it's usable outdoors very well, but again: I, personally, don't feel distracted by reflections at all.

Actually, I have not yet heard of any such plans! Did I miss something?

Did you really count that? :D

GordonHo claimed Dell is going to change his screen to a non-glossy one when it becomes available, implying that one is in the works. I can only hope.

Well, he didn't imply that there would be a matte option in the works, he just said that they will exchange his screen as soon as a matte version becomes available.

I can reassure you that I was able to use my RGB-LED M4400 while sitting on my roof on a completely clear sunny day. Whilst I wouldn't want to watch a DVD, Excel, Word and the internet were all perfectly legible (more so than a matt screen would have been).

What are you guys using to clean your screens? I used to use Klear Screen but I am scared to now because it ate up one of my old CRT monitors. I then found on in the direction packet in the inside it warns of old CRT monitors. You would think they would put something on the direction on the packets.

I am hyper paranoid when cleaning my gloss RGB
