Is it possible put two 2.5'' hard-drives into the M4400? And if it is, then how?

How is that WUXGA RGBLED screen, or WXGA+ LED, anyone got them? Not to consider this machine as a gaming laptop, but it would be nice to have a screen that doesn't do ghosting if I play a game or two.

There are Thinkpad drive caddies that will fit the M4400. Dell does not make one, but you can get these caddies directly from IBM / Lenovo for $40-50 last I checked. Basically, it's a standard drive connector, but the height is only 9.5mm (don't get anything higher or it won't fit).

    If you search:
universal SATA 2ND HDD HARD DRIVE caddy for DELL M4400 on ebay, you should pull up some for $30.

The only downside to this method is that the locking mechanism will either be non-existent or may have to be removed since Lenovo lock and Dell lock for the drive are different. There's enough friction that the drive stays in the bay, so I don't have an issue with that.

A while back I was having an issue with the screen flashing green and red when the screen, particularly the middle right section, was exposed to a bright source of light (the sun, a lighter, very bright flashlight).

Dell tech replaced my screen. No dice. Then they sent a "hero package" and replaced everything but the plastic. Still, no change.

Then they decided to send a replacement machine (upgraded CPU:) ). Guess what?

The problem still exists. I'm beginning to think this is not a fluke.

So - if you have an M4400 with the RGBLED screen, please do me a favor. Take your machine out into the sun and see what happens when bright light hits the middle right hand portion of the screen. Does anything weird happen?

I too have "retired" my desktop in favor of the M4400 - and so far, I am very happy that I did! :D

Ya, I was also thinking of selling off my desktop. It currently has a 21" Samsung LCD connected to it, so I figured I would get a dock so that I can still use it when I feel like sitting at my desk.

You can't be serious! have you even tried to search for that information yourself?

    Don't be so lazy, seriously!

The standard screens for the M4400 are already pretty good. The benefit of the RGBLED screen in particular is that it's able to display very saturated colors. If you have no idea what you would need that for and don't know what display calibration is, you likely don't need it. The term "RGBLED" refers to the way the backlight of the screen works, and I don't know for sure, but I don't think there are special types of LCD panels that are made especially for this type of backlight.

Yes, I experience the same. I've talked about this before.

Lol...you're right! And it's worse this time, the thread is even a sticky right at the top of the forum:rolleyes: Even without searching you would only have to LOOK....lol

i'm still thinking of upgrading to the RGB LED btw...this (dis)colouration only happens in sunlight, right? Did anyone try calibrating it with and Pantone Huey Pro? Not 100% if it can calibrate RGB LED as i heard there's a bit of a difference somehow. If upgrading my screen would also mean having too upgrade to a Eye One or something i might have to wait 'till some more projects come my way ;)

It only happens to me in direct sunlight. I love the RGBLED, regardless.

I haven't done any calibrating. I'd like to though. I'd be happy to try out someone else's ICC profile if anyone has calibrated theirs (I know it wont be perfect).
