    K5000M = 600 MHz, 1344 shaders (cores)
    M1200 = 1100 MHz, 640 shaders (cores)

    If you do the multiplication, the K5000M is faster than the M1200, but it's certainly not "twice as fast", more like 15% faster. (This is assuming that the M1200 can maintain 1100 MHz without hitting thermal throttling... I think it probably can.) The efficiency improvement in the shaders between Kepler and Maxwell may make up most of the difference. Still, I think it would be more reasonable for them to offer you a Quadro M2200 (which is, by the numbers, about 25% faster than the K5000M).

    I just bought one of these and the keyboard was bad - I can't type quick on it without it consistently missing keystrokes or getting them in the wrong order. I just got a new keyboard and it still has the same issue. Is this an issue with all of them or did I just get two bad keyboards?

    To test, try typing 1 & 2 alternating repeatedly (roughly 7Hz is enough to trigger it), does it miss some of them?

    Appreciate your in depth reply, find it very valuable.

    I know memory bus is 128bit vs 256bit as well 256bit being k5000m, and what they are willing to offer it is what is available as per their current page building the system as new at this moment...

    EDIT: I should wait and hear back from them first if they are going to provide me with 100% Adobe RGB panel, next better option is either Radeon Pro WX 7100 w/8GB GDDR5 or Nvidia Quadro P4000 w/8GB GDDR5 , how likely are they going to provide me with a non-downgrade version of GPU , I dont know...

    Hi,

    I got the same offer 9 months ago. I had a similar config: i7/920, K5000M, IPS in my M6700.
    After 2 weeks of hard negotiations (with the DELL swap specialist in Bengalore) I got offered i7/920, P4000 and UHD IPS display.
    The latter is quite good and has nearly 100% coverage of AdobeRGB (99% or so). That equals to much more than 100% of sRGB. It doesn't have 10 bit.

    In the end I paid the upgrade from P4000 to P5000 directly for the replacement system and bought 5yrs ProSupport (NBD on-site) later at DELL Germany.

    Cheers,
    Alex

    Got my 7720 from the outlet today. The webcam and integrated mic are not working :( Have tried a bunch of things; reinstalling drivers, latest updates, Windows updates and what not. The webcam and mic just dont show up under device manager or anywhere. Bunch of googling has not provided any help. I am guessing there is some cable disconnect or something. Any pointers? Did anyone else face any issue with the webcam and mic? It is the UHD panel.

    Also, kinda annoying how the keyboard is not backlit!! I thought all new laptop these days have a backlit keyboard, missing it already coming from my M6800 :(

    Im put off by perhaps not getting UHD / 7920hk / better than M1200 graphics , I dont know what are the chances of them allowing me to switch to M5520 model instead, so it may as well serve better purpose at lower spec as ultrabook/powerstation instead of underpowered downgrade heavy machine ... if you get my drift...? Im yet to receive reply from these guys.

    What are the rules usually as per returning old machine with or without its old original battery? since old battery died year ago and I had replaced it with another one (also genuine from amazon) sending old defective one to some random recycling centre, and the original HDD that came with the machine I its been used since forever as my daughters portable storage drive, I dont think I will be getting it back since she lives abroad and I am not sure if she even has it any longer to tell the truth... also power brick cable plug failed about 6+ months ago, also bought another one from amazon, would they demand original old battery, HDD, power brick?

    Can one usually just send the old machine back after all is finalized and done (I dont know if I am to keep old machine when supplied with the replacement or send it back), without the battery, without HDD, without power supply?

    Thanks for your reply, Id like to get the most out of the replacement system since I paid pretty penny for this when it was new

    First, check the BIOS and make sure that the webcam is not disabled. I believe there's a page in the BIOS with a bunch of peripherals with checkboxes for what you can disable. If it's not that, the most likely thing is that the webcam cable is not connected properly... You'll have to open the machine and check. :-\
    (The webcam is a USB device, if it's not plugged in right it will just not show up in device manager.)

    The webcam mic is a separate device and it should just show up as a microphone input in the sound options. (Don't remember if they share the same cable, I kind of thought that they don't.)

    As for the keyboard, indeed there are separate backlit and non-backlit keyboards for this model. You can buy a backlit keyboard off of eBay and upgrade. Make sure that you get the same layout, if you get a different one by accident (i.e. European vs. US) then it will not line up with the plastic chiclet bezel.

    Board was just replaced... The tech damaged the charging port on the new board and has to replace it and the charging cable since the connector got chewed up... It'll only charge via the doc now...

    Regardless, even with a new board it's still not working. Now i'm down to it being an OS issue (maybe i should do a factory restore?), or maybe an issue with the P4000?

    The one positive note I have is when i disable optimus, the flicking on the laptop lcd is gone.

    Perfect, thank you.

    2 years ago they offered a refund on the original m6800 purchase but I declined, thinking that these issues wouldn't go this far. Not sure if that offer would ever be back on the table, but I already purchased two Dell 4k monitors, extra batteries, pro support, and two TB16 docks so I'm heavily invested in the Dell products. Also bought a Precision workstation last month for $6500 and have about 30 Optiplex desktops so I've been loyal. I only paid $1400 for the m6800 on the outlet which has now turned into a 7720 spec'd to a cost of $5800, so I'd be better off selling on eBay than getting a refund. Now they upgraded my P4000 to a P5000 which is a $700 upgrade, making my 7th replacement a $6100 machine. Crossing my fingers, hoping the replacement comes without any shipping damage and has no more issues. Too much time invested now to call it quits, but looking back at how long I've gone through this, I would never do it again, even considering them giving me $5000 in upgrades. I still haven't used the machine for anything other than surfing the web because of the amount of times I've had to reimage the drive and not being able to install my editing software. Who knows, maybe my 8th replacement will be a new 7730, with a bunch of new issues and bugs like the 7710 I received the week it was released, starting this vicious cycle all over again.

    Yeah, fiddled with BIOS enable/disable webcam switch on the latest BIOS, still no detection :( Will they send a tech out to fix this under the next biz day support warranty or do I have to exchange the laptop? I am not too keen on being without the machine for days.

    The mic is part of the webcam module it seems; atleast from the pictures I found through Google. The part might be busted or as you suspect the cable might have come loose.
