Anyone experience loud beep on laptop startup or restart when docked on old style replicator?

Questions:
- what do you recommend for system configuration tweaks/changes of any sort? Including...
- what do recommend for optimizing the system for NVMe SSD performance?
- anyone interested in posting screenshots of their NVMe SSD performance?
- has anyone performed the "adjusting the settings in the Waves MaxxAudio Pro sound utility" step referenced in https://www.laptopmag.com/reviews/laptops/dell-precision-7720 ?

 

AS SSD Benchmark seems to have problem with NVMe SSD. I have to abort the test, too slow and taking too long time.



Crystal Disk Mark seems to be ok.

 

- Make image when necessary. I take out the laptop HDD and make image using other laptop after unbox even before i switched on the 7720. Recovery using image is much faster and easier than reinstall OS. My 7720 comes with the smallest and slowest 500GB HDD. After making image the HDD is now nowhere thrown into one of the NAS.
- Reduce system protection file size, it took 16GB in my case when i check.
- Disable hibernate, but this is personal preference. If you want faster Windows startup then better leave it on, it took only the same size as your RAM. If you have 64GB RAM, then...
- Relocate the pagefile to other SSD or partition. personal preference
- Relocate the temporary file folder to other SSD or partition. personal preference.
- Do clean-up every month targeting to remove the useless windows update file left over
- Relocate Document folder to other SSD or partition. personal preference, so that when i restore from backup image, the doc won't be gone together. I also have doc sync with 3 NAS as additional insurrance.
- Sound setting... i never touch it, I won't use laptop speaker. I bring external soundbar (soundmatters) if i travel, it is small but has better sound quality. Or using headphone through external soundcard (yet to buy a new USB soundcard, i got my 7720 just recently. Earlier using expresscard soundcard with M6x00, SPDIF out to decoder then to headphone). I have a small bag carrying these sound tools when i travel. Precision series sound system is beyond pathetic to do any adjustment.

 

Went to support page with my Service Tag and downloaded the newer Dell Premier Color, upon installation it prompted "Application only supports authentic Dell devices" . What is wrong?

 

Do you think it sees a P5000 that was not original in the system?

 

Still wondering if your P5000 vBIOS is not the same as the one that would arrive on a P5000 that actually shipped in a 7720... Does anyone have a P5000 who can check the vBIOS? (@Bokeh?)

 

My BIOS version (P5000 in 7720) is 86.04.3A.00.25
But I can't extract it with GPU-Z 2.2.0 (error msg).

Not the same as default, i flashed it with Dell P5000 vbios. The version for both are exactly the same 86.04.3A.00.25. Dell vbios solved some funny issues over default vbios, but now add a loud beep everytime start/restart when docked in old style dock station.
