You mean the one with USB2.0 (E/Port I)? I use it every Tuesday at one of my clients. No beep so far.

Didn't try the eSATA port with both docks (sb here stated that they won't work with the 7720).

    Cheers,
    Alex

PS: I just read your other post:
That could be the difference. I rarely restart my notebook. Always Sleep/SuspendToRAM for quicker wake up.

Did anyone switch from a G2 ZBook to one of these? I'm considering a 7720 as my next work machine and would like to hear some impressions, thanks :D

On my Dell M6700, the startup beep came with the 980M, which means an unrecognized GPU, I suppose?

Not sure but i managed to overcome the very loud single startup beep by disabling Legacy Boot. It is now quiet :)

    Hi,

    Nobody talks about BIOS 1.7.1.
Did anybody try it out? This time I'm not brave enough since I've got several deadlines in my projects...

    Cheers,
    Alex

I installed it yesterday, no issue so far. Didn't notice any difference too.

Thanks. Did it last night. No problems so far. The reason why I'm keen on updates: I hope that the cold dock issue with e-port gets solved. Right now I take it out (still running) and go to standby. Before I dock again I wake it up. In short words: I only do hot dock/undock. Did the cold dock thing for the last 7+ years several times a day without problems (and I want this back).

    Cheers,
    Alex

EDIT 10/09: Did a cold dock today (E-Port 2) it came up normal. Continue to observe...
EDIT 10/10: Did several cold dock/undock with E-Port 1 and 2. Maybe the problem is solved or at least it happens less often...
EDIT 10/26: Dind't happen a single time so far. Maybe the BIOS really solves the problem (for the 7720).

You are referring to bios 1.14.4 right? I mean that is the latest one now.

No, I talk about BIOS 1.7.1, which is IMHO the latest one for 7720 (this is the 7720 thread, right?).

    Cheers,
    Alex
