Goodness me! As a previous M6800 owner it is very sad to read this. Is Dell amenable to refunds? I mean, like, take the money and get a Lenovo P71, or something? I've got to say that I've been very impressed with Lenovo's workstations after moving on from Dell. Anyway, hope the new unit works out. You have the patience of Job!

Can someone let me know what their 7720 idle temps are? Mine is 45 to 50 on the CPU.

Just responding to myself... I contacted Dell support they are going to replace the motherboard. Hopefully this works.

DVI works with the 7720, just no DP. I got my old latitude out and it worked fine with the Docking station over DP... so that ruled out the docking station being the issue.

Mine is 42-45°C for below 5% usage; 45-50°C for 6~8% usage. 50-70°C for 15-20% usage.

If already turned on the bios option of something like output video using discrete GPU and still having this problem, most likely the board is faulty. Can you output directly from laptop DP with optimus turned off?

One page ago I mentioned it. Thanks for trying it out. Can you do some cold docking / undocking?
    TIA

    Cheers,
    Alex

Negative. I tried every bios video option and it made no difference in my inability to use the DP via eport docking station. mDP via onboard works flawlessly. Also DP & mdp via TB16 work flawlessly.

Also turning off Optimus caused the laptop lcd to flicker, and I confirmed the refresh rate was still 60hz.

Hi people of the forum, have dell offering m7720 as a replacement for my failing m6700, major question - the original m6700 had 110% RGB 1080p panel and now the new system they are quoting comes only with 72% RGB gamut, the only reasonable option that I see is UHD IGZO panel with 100% RGB which is still a downgrade but not so bad.
Your thoughts guys? How should I proceed talking to dell as they insist that they have matched like for like (i7-3920xm to i7-7820hq and not 7920hq that is also available which would be equivalent I think) and are giving me this poor gamut panel stating that they are matching FHD - to - FHD replacement.

Told them few times, I would like to get as close to 110% RGB originally shipped with my laptop, and I dont mind upgrading with higher resolution but with 100% RGB but still no word back from them.

EDIT: should they replace my K5000M Quadro card with quadro M1200 and get away with it? because just comparing on paper looking at the specs, K5000M looks as much as twice the performance when compared to quadro M1200 ..?

Any advice or am I asking for too much? also my 100days warranty will carry over to the replacement machine , sadly, so I may purchase extended warranty when this original one runs out

Mucho gracias, seems like mine is pretty normal then. I'll probably disassemble and upgrade the thermal paste to try to get those temps down a few degrees. I did liquid metal on my desktop and got 15 degrees lower max temps. Can't do that for the GPU, but can for the CPU.
