Ok, i'm thinking it an issue with the new dock. I can get the old dock to see and drive both display port outputs at 800x600, however the new dock will only use a single displayport output at a time with either laptop.

I was never able to get 2x 4K/60 Hz working stable with the ePort dock. I suspect that for whatever reason, these things aren't able to handle the bandwidth for 4K/60Hz over DisplayPort. (They were designed and introduced before that was a thing...)

I'm using the TB16 dock to get dual 4K/60Hz out of the laptop and that works fine (only with Optimus on).

I'm not surprised, but it should be direct wire connections so I don't get why it won't work. Dells documentation even says it should work.

I've been having problems with the tb16. The second display flickers periodically, will never wake up from sleep unless I physically re-plug the monitor, and frankly the form factor is just annoying to me.

I had this same problem. I fixed it by purchasing a DP to Thunderbolt 3 adapter and then using that adapter to plug the monitor into the TB3 port on the back of the dock. Instantly fixed all my sleep and flickering issues.

It is direct wire connections, but 4K 60Hz is 11 Gbps of data, a hefty chunk... When you're dealing with that kind of bandwidth you can run into issues with bad cabling causing faults. I figured that it's possible that the wiring or connection from the motherboard to the DisplayPort is not robust enough to handle this somewhere along the line.

Maybe so, except Dell states it is a supported configuration as long as the docking station supports USB 3.0. which means it should work period, and I'm going to remain down Dell's ass on this until they make their very expensive product do what it is supposed to, or give me a refund.

I've got an M6700 that's crapping out on me, hard drive and now the display...

I need to upgrade but it sure sounds like the 7720 isn't reliable, yet?

I'm not interested in fencing with support over a new purchase, and I've have good luck in the past with their workstation laptops overall.

I just busted out my E Port Plus port replicator (USB 3.0) and connected it to two P2715Q 4k monitors. I was getting 4k 60HZ on both monitors plus the built in display. I have a P4000 card on the machine I tested it with. BIOS is configured to disable Switchable graphics.
