It won't always stay that way. :( Of course most of you probably don't game on it. I only use the notebook while traveling, and because the Intel HD 3000 IGP can't play much more demanding games I usually just play League of Legends. It is quite playable at native resolution using lower graphics quality. There are some glitches, such as shadows and fog of war staying static unless I pan the view, but overall it works reasonably well.

The fans, however, stay spinning and the notebook gets pretty hot, especially around the left side of the wrist rest and touch pad area.

Given its form factor, I'd say it is bound to get hot..

But the design that the portion where people put their hands getting hot is just wrong..

Most laptops tend to drive heat away from the bottom portion of the laptop and make the top heat up instead as people don't often notice it.

    Very poor design, indeed.

Are you using HDD or SSD ? It can make a noticeable difference in terms of heat(thus fan). Even the ReadyBoost feature help me reduce fan noise, as unlikely as it sounds.

Of course, playing games, every measure is off(battery life, heat etc.)

After reinstalling Windows 7 - I would like to be able to use the fingerprint reader. I have installed every "driver" found on the support page for Windows 7, does anyone know what I need to be able to use the fingerprint reader. On systems that shipped with Windows 7 what is used for the fingerprint reader? Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

I mentioned how to do it several pages back, but for greater detail:

    1. Uninstall the existing Validity software that was downloaded from Dell.
    2. Download the latest version "Download Windows 7 WBF 4.3.034 for all other computers" from: http://www.validityinc.com/post.aspx?id=186
    3. Install the file - when it is done installing, NOTHING will happen. It will just disappear.
    3. Reboot
    4. Go to Control Panel > Biometric Devices
    5. Manage your fingerprint data
    6. Done
    7. Come back to forum and let us know how it went.
