    "DELL WEBSITE":

I saw a post somewhere else that this issue is due to usage of USB 3.0 port when installing OS with a flash drive.

I plugged in the USB key into the USB 2.0 por and that resolved the issue.

    Hope this helps your problem!

    ---------------

Guys, this was due to USB 3.0 ports... I plugged in the external DVD into USB 2.0 port and it's working like a CHARM :)

I'll come back with some review :)

I know this is major speculation right now... but does anyone think that the successor to the V131 will be a rebadged version of the XPS 13 ultrabook?

I could easily see dell doing away with the carbon fiber bodyparts and just making it aluminum or plastic and calling it the V132... Not sure if this is where I should post this but just figured I would throw it out there and see if this idea crossed anyones minds.

Well v131 for his price is worth to buy, dell xps will cost 1k+ and also its processor is weaker.

just got mine today. does anyone feel the screen hinge a bit too loose ? How can it survive frequent open/close given that this is intended to be using that way ?

You'll want to look for the DigitalPersona software, which I doubt is found online. It will be on one of the red CDs that come with the computer. Since the V131 doesn't have a drive thouhg, I just took the disk, stuck it in a computer with a disk drive and copy the files on to a USB stick. It worked for me.

By the way, how are you screen hinges tight? I have the medium tensioned ones that are really wobbly.

thanks sir.. thank is very helpful.. i will look for disk when i get home..
i though driver has the problem and i have already downloaded the driver like 5 times.. hehe

which part is wobbly in your machine? the "steel" looking part or the lid itself? mine seems stiff as of now.. but i close and open lid carefully every time because of what i have read a few pages back that we have a hinge problem on our notebook.. even when using my notebook on a moving vehicle... the lid/hinge seems fine

One thing to keep in mind is that the Ultrabook movement seems to also be a general push for style. The use of premium materials also seems to be necessary for the structural stability of the laptop. I think manufacturers are trying to get back to the point where computers are actually somewhat profitable and people will pay a bit of a premium for them. A cheaper, plastic, version of the XPS 13 would go against this.

Toshiba has a cheaper Ultrabook out now and it seems really flimsy. I would have a hard time trusting that I could travel around with that. Also, I've seen some complaints that the Macbook Air screen cracks quite easily, and most certainly nobody requiring high mobility would want that.

All of the above is speculation. Personally, I like the V131 design since I get some extra features and strength over an Ultrabook and so I hope the V132 is similar. Who knows what Dell has planned?

Does anyone find the design of V131 a bit flimsy ? What I have found so far:

    1. the screen hinge makes me worry, when opens up, the shaking seems a bit much, I am not sure how it holds if I am on a bus

    2. the battery lock is also pretty bad. worst among the laptop I have own, I worry that I may break the latch if I do it constantly.

BTW, doesn't anyone know what is the 'sleep' button ? in all my Dell, it is Fn+F1 but not on this
