    So do this display options/power/
    Power Source=battery
    Power Plans Balance
Do not check Display Power Saving Technology*

Also just tryed maximum Battery life and unchecked box and it also does't flicks

What services did you turn off? (I'm getting about 19 secs boot time with the Celeron version w/Corsair SSD and no services turned off--I did a clean W7 install).

Most of the ones listed on page 5 of this thread.

As for the boot timer, point me to a good times and ill give it a try.

Also, updated the gfx drivers to the latest ones on the intel website ans it added about 1.5 seconds to the boot (factoring in how short the boot time is now, that's a bit of a jump). rolled back to the dell stock drivers and got the time back

Anybody know if this laptop will take advantage of faster memory? (pc1200 rather than pc10600) be it in general performance or gaming performance?

    Thanks

The i5 will not handle 1600 memory.. It will only take 1333 memory.

But if you can get 1333 with lower CAS, you should see some gains(minimal as they may be).

But yes, in theory, as this uses the iGPU, it should benefit from the memory bandwidth / CAS ratings.

That too bad your refurb unit failed. I got a refurb Latitude 13 a year ago and it's still working fine, though now I use the Vostro V131 more.

I'm not sure what you were looking for from Dell, but sounds to me that they gave you exactly what you asked for, which was a refund. The other option would probably be for a replacement if they have them available. I'm not sure what else you were expecting, as that is the purpose of a warranty and/or return policy.

On a related note, the left side hinge on my V131 screen is now making clicking noises. :(

So, After doing an extensive research here in the forum & Web, got my V131 last week.

I have no words to describe how much I'm happy with the decision to buy it.
    I just love the machine!

Got the i5, with Samsung 810 SSD.

Cold boot time is 10.5 seconds (!!!!), and waking up in less the 2 seconds from sleep mode.

Furthermore, as my main issues with my old laptop were heat and noise, I can say that this laptop is COMPLETLEY SILENT! can't hear it at all on idle mode (web, documents, and even while watching videos). Guess most of it is thanks to the SSD (not regreting for any penny that I've added to include ssd). Also no complaints about heat level. machine is cool al the time.

So if anyone is wondering if to buy the V131 - I say defenetley get it.
Seriously, I'm just so pleased with this machine.

(And ofcourse, thanks everyone here that helped me with. answering my questions)
