If the 5510 is anything like the M3800 (which it is replacing), the GPU is soldered, you can't swap it out. Anyway, we'll find out as soon as someone gets one and opens it up.

You will likely be able to replace the GPU in both the 7510 and 7710. (There's a couple threads active here where people have stuck the new Quadro M5000M into the old M6700 and it's working with no issues... fun stuff.)

My guess is it' the Nvidia Maxwell quadro GPU's that are holding things up.

Anyone know if the Quadro M1000M can output UHD (3840x2160) @ 60Hz with 4:4:4 chroma subsampling?

If it does, I assume the USB-C port is connected to the Quadro and would be the only option since the HDMI port is 1.4 (not enough bandwidth). I think this is the same on the new XPS except that it uses the GTX 960M.

It would be cool if Dell allowed this to be configured as i7/FHD/6-cell without a dedicated GPU. A configuration like that would make a very nice Linux development laptop with zero drama from dedicated graphics switching.

The price is ridiculous, with VAT a Precision 5510 i7/8gb/FHD/512GB SSD has same price as XPS 15 i7/16GB/4K/1TB SSD.
