I was hoping it would be legitimate given the type of business Provantage seems to be.

So third party/knock offs are the only option now? I'll mail Dell and see if we get somewhere.

Can't believe they're leaving so much money on the table!

    Hi everybody,
I intend to buy an old Dell M4800 but I heard someone say that Dell M4800 version with screen 3K (3200x1800), 4K screen has error. Does anyone used Dell M4800 3K/ 4K screen have a screen error? Whoever used it, please give me some advice. Tks so much.

Can I ask if the Dell M6800 series has an IPS screen panel? Or is it just TN panel ?

M4800 was sold with both 3200x1800 and 4K panels. They initially offered only 3200x1800 and started offering 4K panels later on.
IPS panel is not an option with Precision M6800.

What "error" are you referring to?

The 3K version cannot use Optimus, the GPU is always on. Perhaps that may be what you're referring to?

That "error" I mean is a screen stripes or flare.
"The 3K version cannot use Optimus, the GPU is always on. " : Yeah, I knew that.
I see your laptop is M4800 3K, does have any problem ??

It's treated me well and still working. I think I replaced the battery 3 times? I've also had to replace the fans a couple times over the years. I love how easy it is to open up - remove battery and two screws, and you can pop the bottom off for access to either fan or many other things.

It's no longer my daily driver - my back was starting to hurt so I assigned myself a T440p at work (helps to be the Sysadmin sometimes). I also received a Pixelbook as a gift, so I use that a lot for personal use, and the T440p works well for my mobile work needs. I still have two of the D5000 docks set up, though I think they're not 100% supported in Win10. I still have 8.1 on one of the partitions but just use 10 99% of the time.

If you have any specific questions, I can try to answer them.

I have this screen. It's supposed to be an IPS panel and it uses IZGO technology but it's not IPS like you're probably thinking of. My experience has been that it's this weird bastardization between IPS and VA with bad contrast.

Horizontal viewing angles are poor, with significant washout/yellow cast when viewing the screen off center; the greater the angle the greater the washout/cast. This is also visible vertically but not as much. Contrast ratio is also pretty garbage. Calibrated or not you're looking at somewhere around 700-800:1. Colorspace coverage is all right though, around 98% sRGB with underage in the reds and some overage in blues and greens.

    Edit-
Notebook Check reported a slightly better contrast ratio with this screen, so that might vary for you I guess.
