Is it possible to replace the touchpad of an M4800, or is it an integral part of the palmrest assembly?

I've attached a web picture I found but its not clear how the touchpad is fixed.

I've never heard of someone doing this without replacing the entire palmrest. I checked eBay and can't find any touchpads on sale by themselves, but the entire palmrest is readily available. Pay attention to the fingerprint reader option as that is also part of the palmrest part.

Just about 5 years, since I picked up my M4800. These days I tend to use an external monitor, though.

Has anyone found a touch-up paint to match the "Diesel" colour of the M4800?

looking at replacing a damaged Lcd screen on a UHD m4800.

I'm in the UK and here there does not seem to be a source of OEM parts - all I can find are 'compatible' versions.

Those are listed as having either a standard edp 40 pin connector; or a smaller edp 40 pin connector. Can someone tell me which size I need please?

    Hello all,

Having a lot of odd issues with my dell m4800 and I think its time for a motherboard replacement.

The laptop powers on for a few seconds the fans go full speed then shuts off. I have tired removing the CMOS battery, SSD, HHD reseating the ram sticks ( that did work before) no dice.

Before this happened, Windows was becoming unbearably slow (sound would lag) and the laptop was not detecting the AC adapter, charging light was not indicating charge

The issue is, I do not know my service tag, is it possible to find out which motherboard I would need or would I have to dissemble the whole thing first to find out

    Thanks,
    SM

You need to determine whether you have the LVDS or eDP motherboard.
If you have a 1800p or 4K display then it is definitely the eDP motherboard.
Otherwise, either boot your system up and run hwinfo64 or Moninfo to figure out the display type, or just remove the display and check the back of it. Then look up your display model online and see if it is eDP or LVDS.
