    Thank you for the reply,
The laptop cant get past POST but, I did replace the screen and it was definitely a LVDS motherboard.
I see if I can find a LVDS one on ebay

    Edit - I found 2 different models
thp1n and w7r2 both are LVDS, does the different SKU matter or it just has to be LVDS?

    Thanks,
    SM

The only difference that matters is the display output on the motherboard. If you get any LVDS one you should be fine.

    Hello,

I was just looking at the Dell D5000 dock since I'd like to connect my M4800 (4k eDP) to my 4K TV using the WiGig antenna available in some of these systems. Unfortunately the system configuration for my Dell service tag lists "320-BBMF : Back Cover for UHD Display without WiGig". Also listed is the Intel Dualband Wireless-AC 7260. So from the info I got I conclude my system is not ready for usage with the WiGig-dock.
Online I found this part (Dell A131CY): https://www.parts-people.com/index.php?action=item&id=19287
It supposedly works with the QHD+-Panel (the original 3200x1800 IGZO model) if used with the Dell wireless card.
Now I wonder if that back cover w/ antenna is compatible to my 2160p IGZO panel.
Browsing this thread (search) didn't give me more information so I'd be very glad if someone has experiences with the WiGig dock + UHD panel on this machine.

Thanks in advance and best regards,
    Euda

I can only say I use it with the 3200 x 1800 screen. Windows 10 support is also slightly kludged by Dell: https://www.dell.com/support/articl...ig-driver-for-the-d5000-in-windows-10?lang=en

Thanks for the reply. A shame if functionality of this dock is already being limited with current OS'. What are your typical applications for the D5000 dock?
I have read that the 802.11ad standard didn't get a lot of attention/praise over the last years but will get increasingly interesting for applications like VR in the future.
Dug deeper and found this tutorial in another sub-forum: http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/guide-wigig-802-11ad-and-wwan-upgrade.805312/

I'll try in the next months and report again.

It still works pretty well. I primarily use it for wireless Ethernet, plus usb devices and some other things. The wireless display connection can be a bit flaky or slow, but I don't use it much anyway. I have two D5000s - the one where the wireless display might be useful is so close to the TV that using a real cable for a rock solid picture is less of a headache.

    Hello all,

I have got my replacement motherboard and ready to replace it with the dead one. Does anyone know any good guides or videos showing a motherboard replacement or how to re assemble the laptop?
I have found videos, showing the disassembly but no videos showing the re assembly

    Thank you,
    Dan
