Intoxicate, would you be able to post some viewing angle comparison shots? I am really interested in steep top angle and steep bottom angle.

I sold all the notebooks so I can't do any new pics (I just have the M6400 left) hope those pics help:

Here is the promised pic of the XPS 1530M with a WUXGA ccfl glossy screen next to the M4400 (WXGA+ LED matte) and M6400 (E2E-RGB-LED):

One question about the comparison is the White Balance setting of your camera. In both the shots of the MBP and XPS the chassis has a definite gold cast to them when they should look silver. Seems like that would tint the look of the screens too, no?

To make it easy: The MacBook Pro is the best designed notebook if you want to use Mac OS. If you prefer Windows, I'd go for the M4400. The MacBook looks more beautiful and is impressive thin. Both have similar performance, but the MacBook gets pretty hot under Vista and the battery last shorter than the M4400's. The trackpad under Vista isn't that great and the MacBooks lacks connections (only 2 USB, no E-Sata-Port, just Mini-DP instead of VGA + Displayport, no Card-Reader...)

The settings for the images were very bad. I didn't adjust the white balance and the pictures aren't really comparable, but I don't have better pics, hope they show at least "something".

So you got to see the RGB LED Matte and RGB LED Glossy displays? Which did you prefer? How bad was the glare on the glossy, and how much better was the contrast/color on the glossy? Did you try them in brightly lit rooms / outdoors?

    Thx

Correct me if I'm misinformed, but I do not believe that the RGB LED screen can be obtained in matte - it is "True-Life" and True-Life = glossy.

On the m6400 non covet you can get a matte RGB LED. The Covet is glossy only, and I'm not sure about the M4400, but judging by the titles on Intoxicate's last set of pics the M4400 is matte. Come to think of it, I don't know if it's white LED or RGB LED on the M4400.

Not sure about the M6400, but I am quite certain that the M4400 RGB LET is only available as "True-Life" - otherwise I would have opted for the matte as well.

The M4400's RGB-LED is only available in Truelife = glossy. I had the WXGA+ LED screen which is matte.

After all I kept the Truelife M6400 (covet-screen) and am very happy with it. The colors are very "real" and the constrast and text is a lot sharper than on a matte screen. The screen is bright enough that you almost don't notice any reflections. Glossy is a bit of a bad word, for most people glossy means oversaturated colors... The RGB screen would suffer from a matte coating (which diffuses the light from the screen), so the Truelife-Covet Finish is a pretty good choice!
