    That was one *fast* reply!

Hmm, I'm not too fond of sticking-out-batteries, I'll start with the regular 6-cell version then..

Funny, it seems that different manufactures have different meanings for the term 'anti glare'. Even wikipedia is not sure:

Glossy display - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

And everybody knows wikipedia is *always* right!

I will be very surprised if you are actually getting those speeds, especially on a netbook. I highly doubt a netbook would be able to push data at that speed.

You my be looking at the reported connection speed in the wireless control panel, in which case that number is almost meaningless. It's really only useful to tell how good your signal is, and each laptop will be different. If your netbook is made of plastic, but this laptop has some metal in the shell, that will definitely make a difference.

Matte or anti-glare means that the monitor won't be mirror like.
Anti-glare and matte are the same thing for LCD's. It just means a textured film is being used.

Anti-glare term actually comes from CRT monitors, where it was a treatment done to the tube to not reflect light. As LCD don't use glass, there is no such treatment in reality. So, both terms means the same thing.
Also, their is no textured film standard.. some are more textured than other based on the film used for the LCD (model and brand). Some people make up stuff when they see a matte screen less textured then another, thinking the even more textured is anti-glare or something like that, while in reality they are both matte, and nothing special to it.

Same thing happened to me. Fingers-crossed that it applied.

Also, the reason why I checked the updates in the first place: There is a SATA update of some sort. After using my external WD My Book for a couple days via eSATA, all of a sudden it stopped being recognized or Win7 told me it needed to be formatted. (Not with 300GB of raided backup data it didn't!) In any case, for the last couple of hours, that patch on Dell's site fixed the issue. Knock on wood. So, if anyone else is using eSATA to connect an external drive, you might want to get that patch.

My eSATA suddenly stopped working too. I'm going to apply the BIOS update and be your guinea pig.

Oh, and the A02 update is officially on the Dell support site now.

While watching videos on history channel (Ice Road Truckers — History.com TV Episodes, Schedule, & Video) my computer froze three times! I freaked out and ran onboard diagnostics, but found no error. I just got this machine three days ago and am wondering what I should do. Reinstall drivers and softwares? Then what kind? Please help. Thank you!

Now BIOS A02 is out and I cannot apply A02 because A01.1 will not install. Does anyone know how to update the BIOS on this machine?

Could this have anything to do with 64 bit Windows 7?

Is there a DOS based updater or way to extract the update BIN from the EXE?

I've just successfully upgraded from bios A01 to patched A01 to A02. The updater did't work for me neither when run from Win7 64bit.
I had to create bootable pendrive with DOS image and Dell's updater worked fine when run in DOS.

Thanks! I suspected this is the problem but did not have time to test. I have a thumb drive with FREE DOS on it. I will run the updates from there.

Do you know who to contact at DELL to let them know their updates do not run with 64 bit windows?
