I use UNetbootin which is free and can be found here:
    UNetbootin - Homepage and Downloads

This is absolutely the easiest way to make a USB drive with DOS without having to download anything else. It just works...

UNetbootin allows you to create bootable Live USB drives for Ubuntu, Fedora, and other Linux distributions without burning a CD. It runs on both Windows and Linux. You can either let UNetbootin download one of the many distributions supported out-of-the-box for you, or supply your own Linux .iso file if you've already downloaded one or your preferred distribution isn't on the list. It also comes with FreeDOS which can run BIOS flash and other legacy DOS utilities.

Install the FreeDOS on your USB stick and there you have a bootable thumb drive. Easy!

NOTE: You select FreeDOS from the pick list. You don't have to install anything else. Basically you have a thumb drive with DOS on it. Copy whatever you want to run or install to the thumb drive. Hint. you must CD C: to see your files. The thumb drive boots your computer to the A: drive. You will not see your BIOS updaters on A: you must switch to the C: drive on the thumb drive.

No help on the Dell website... You might try contacting support via chat and see what they say. Also you might try downloading the patch again to ensure it is not corrupted.

I have a clean install of Win7 64-bit and it worked fine.

I updated from A01 to P01 to A02. Rebooted with the update to P01 and rebooted again after A02 application (which was a forced reboot with no warning - very annoying).

what do you mean "clean install" ? just win7 without any drivers then flash with P01 then A02 ?
or have you applied any drivers first ?

if this is the solution i gonna reinstall win7 64 2nite without any drivers and then try to apply the patch then the new A02 Bios

This is odd. A few of reported it not working in 64 bit Windows 7. I wonder if rebooting to SAFE mode would have the same result.

My E6510 has an i7 720 processor. I wanted to know if the 90 watt power supply is some how inadequate and should I get the 130 watt supply?

The 90 watt PS gets quite hot and I am concerned about this.

So i have been holding off for the prices of Gen2 ssd drives to drop further.
Well big mistake was to log onto craigs list this morning.
    I find a six week old retail Intel Gen2 40GB listed for $50 b/o
give the seller a call, he was only five miles from me, big mistake during morning rush-hour, an hour later after that ten mile round trip, i image a fresh win7 pro 64 bit onto it and place into the e6510 i7 620m with 8gb
Damn, this value intel drive simply blows away that WD black spinner drive that dell provided.
I understand that there are faster value drives and faster performance ssd, yet at the cost of this, no complaints

Now i see why this person wanted to sell/upgrade, the performance is addictive.

The drive is under the full three year warranty, had to call intel to check.
    Final cost was $45, ;)

Nice wet the toes test drive

Now I've experienced a couple of more random freezes:
    1. system was idle
    2. surfing the web on google chrome

I have windows 7 Ultimate x64 and it seems like many people out there with vista and windows 7 are experiencing the same problem. I personally used both and on my other machine with win7 Ultimate x64, haven't had any random freeze at all.

I also have 1333mhz ram, and I know my system only supports 1066. Then I found this thread:
    Random Lockups, Intel Chipset

Diagnostics and Dell are telling me there's no problem with hardwares. So I'd like to give a shot at dropping the memory speed. How should I do this?

Anyone having random system lockups with windows 7 x64?
