So I got mine today, order was shipped really quick.

Ordered on May 11th and Received on May 20th, rep told me it will ship within 10 business days, well I received well within the quoted time range.

    My Specs:

    Latitude E6510 Notebook
    Intel Core i5-540M
    4.0GB, DDR3-1066 SDRAM, 2 DIMM for Latitude
    Internal Backlit English Keyboard
    512MB NVIDIA NVS 3100M
    500GB Hard Drive 9.5MM, 7200RPM
No Fingerprint Reader and No Contactless Smartcard Reader
15.6" 900p HD Wide View Anti-Glare LED Display
    Genuine Windows 7 Professional, 64-bit
    Dell Wireless 375 Bluetooth Module,
    9 Cell Battery & 90W 3-Pin, AC Adapter
    8X DVD+/-RW
Light Sensitive Webcam and Noise Cancelling Digital Array Mic
    Intel WiFi Link 6200 (802.11a/g/n 1X2) 1/2 MiniCard
No Intel vPro Technology Advanced Management Features
3 Year Basic NB Warranty (Included) & 3yr Complete Care (Purchased).

I would have liked the Full HD 1080p screen and a different color top, but Dell said stock issues and I'd have to wait for quite a long time.

It's Gorgeous!! I took some pics, I'll post later one, I tried taking some videos of the point and shoot, not the best quality, but hey a lot better than my sister's Sanyo 720p camera (SD better than HD yea, really)..

I did get CDs and OS DVD with it, so anybody wondering, I did. Only thing I didn't look too closely, I did find a ziploc bag with some stickers, not sure if the OS Product Key is in it, it wasn't in the back of the laptop.

Windows was sluggish with all the bloatware installed, I do want to re-install it all.

This might have been asked here, but can I use a Win 7 Pro X64 (Legit) ISO I got from Microsoft and the Product Key to do a fresh install ?

    BIOS UPDATE for E6510

I noticed there is a patch (5/20/2010) to A01 on the Dell website. I think it is supposed to update BIOS to A01.1.

I ran the updater from inside windows and it seemed to run correctly. Rebooted machine then I went to restart and view BIOS. Still says A01. Is this correct?

I just got the E6510 so have not tried this. But I have Ubuntu 10.4 on a Dell D600 without any issues. You can run the distro via live CD to verify functionality without doing an install.

Ubuntu and fedora are running on my e6410 without problems, so there shouldnt be any problems on the e6510.

I think this has more to due with auto activations of OS software or something on them lines.
    Just guessing ?
I don't recall a must update like this b4 you can update to the next.
Normally Dell would have just released A02
This is Version: P01 patch to A01

Do we have any antenna engineer guru's in here?
    I am a huge audio/video/sports fan.
At home i use two HD HomeRun tuners on the network to provide four ota/Qam HD DVR tuners.
Walls full of panels & racks full of gear/toys ;)

I figured i'd try my AverMedia Mini PCI-e A312 ATSC HD tuner within this E6510.
I have tried it within many other laptops such as the TP 400, HP elitebook and xps m1330 and it always came down to reception issues, "ie the wwan antenna is not tuned to bring in the right frequency of atsc tv" i rather not have to carry an external antenna everywhere i go just in case i wanted to kill a little time with some TV or to watch the game

I have always first given the WWAN pci-e slot the home for the tuner, then i would give both wwan antenna wires a go, usually one would work better than the other for the given wavelength, but it has always been marginal at best.
I could have wired an antenna jack to the case of the other laptops but never found an ideal place that would not modify in such a manner that may void warranty.

Therefore i always went back to my second choice of which i own two of the AverMedia AverTV hybrid NanoExpress 54 cards.
Those cards work great, yet you need to carry an antenna.
Unlike the e6500, this e6510 now only has the express card 34, sure i could go and purchase a new 34 tuner card.
    But first i figured I'd give the pci-e A312 card a go.
Well with the black wwan antenna wire i get great signal on all but two local stations, those two do work, yet only about 30-40% signal and results in pixelation.

I am thinking i may be able to modify the antenna within the LCD housing in such a way to increase its usability for atsc tv.

First i was thinking maybe one of the cheap stickon cellphone antennas that are worthless for the cellphones.
Just maybe that would add some mass/length within the vicinity to help with the given atsc wavelength and not interfere with wifi

    Any idea's?

If all else fails, the removal of that plastic plug within the modem jack will make an ideal location for a antenna jack placement without case changing modifications.
The wwan slot is within a few inches as well.

Do I need the 130 Watt Power Supply?

    E6510 with i7 720

I have seen mentions of CPU throttling with the 90 Watt power supply. Since Dell sells the 130 W for an additional $100 why don't they make it default for the i7 processor orders?

What will be the performance hit without the 130 W?

    Hi,

I was customizing online the configuration of the E6510.

If I choose an i7-620M processor (so dual-core), is the 90 Watt AC adapter "ok" or "just enough" ? or would a 130 Watt AC adapter be more appropriate (albeit, it does not look like I can choose it in the configuration) ?

    Thanks!
