LSB replies via IM .... they don't see them in stock usually.

Scott, where can I find the AUO screen or others for a decent price?

I'm curious to learn how this ended up. Seems like you got hung up on the LCD type, but not the procedure to upgrade.

    Any updates or HOW TOs?

The procedure to upgrade is available several places on the internet. Besides, if I get stuck, I can always ask here in the notebookreview forums. :)

The prices for 1600x900 LCD matte screens are more than $100, plus additional amount for the cable.

I did not yet buy the screen or cable so far because of prices and availability of screens. I have other computers that I use.

If you need HOW TOs, this video from laptopscreen.com shows how to replace screen on Latitude E6420.

I got a laptop with this screen in it: WJ139 - LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY...,14.0HDF+,LIGHT EMITTING DIODE...,LVDS,AG,Z,LGP (AUO Panel B140RW03 V.0 or V.1 Matte)

That screen broke so I need a new one. If I were to order the LG one (GJ494 - LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY...,14.0HDF+,LIGHT EMITTING DIODE...,LVDS,AG,Z,LGP (LG Panel LP140WD1-TLM1 Matte)), would I have any issues swapping it out, or would I need to change a cable?

My guess is that you could substitute any of the screens of same resolution. If the cable only handled one make of screen, there would be multiple part numbers for each of LVCD cable and LCD back cover.

I have not made any switch so, I cannot say definitely.

If you have warranty, you may want to check with Dell before ordering. Do you have a complete care warranty option?

There is warranty, unfortunately not complete care, so a cracked screen isn't covered.

I think Dell still does repairs even without complete care or out of warranty. You can call and check the prices to compare with.

    800-247-4618 / 800.288.4410 I think are the numbers.

How's the text display with normal DPI and highest resolution on that 1600x900 screen?
