    Done.
I did it with a cd
The clicking is apparently more silent.
And spinning needs time to tell

Anyone else with an E6400 with the Intel 5300 wireless card have terrible wireless performance?

I've tried the W7 supplied driver, the dell supplied driver, and the DCP Connection Mgr. driver pack and my connection just sucks. Not sure why it is so terrible. The Vostro 1720 we have with the same wireless 5300 card runs just peachy (also W7Ult).

Half the time the rate is below 10mbps and typically drops off sharply once it is downloading.

yeah, it is a power saving implementation which you can change. go to the advanced power management settings for the card if you want to disable this. my connection generally speaking is great.

Thanks, guys, for the input. The 5300 in my wife's Vostro 1720 runs very, very fast, which is why when I saw the terrible rates the E6400 was returning it was very surprising.

I'll check out those suggestions. Is the power management for the 5300 mini-card in the card properties, or in the power plan area?

It's in the power plan settings. For a lot of plans it is set to go at minimum or reduced speed by default.
