I've tracked down my eSATA ExpressCard and it shows up as port 4.

BTW, that Silicon Image adaptor is slow by current standards - it can only manage about 40MB/s transfer rate.

Thanks, guys. Due to the thefts I am left with 3 extra power supplies, so that's nice to know!

Never saw an octagonal one before. I had an M1330 and it was a normal dell brick that came with it. Octo would be rather...odd ;)

    Hi, allfiredup.
Thank you very much for your great advice, which is really helpful and important to me.
Actually I am in a laptop program for Harvard University. I don't have too many choices for the configuration.
Only three options for processor: T9600, P9700, T9900
For graphics card, the NVIDIA Quadro NVS 160M is the only choice.
And definitely I will choose the WXGA+ (1440x900) UltraSharp LED,which is actually included in the basic configuration.
As I used the dial-up connection long long time ago, I will follow your and other guys' advice not to choose the modem.
    What's your opinion?

    Thanks.

Agreed. The lower power rating improves battery time and there's less heat for the cooling system to dispose of.

SATA is the interface for pretty much all modern hard drives (and SSDs too). Many optical drives (DVD drives, Blu-ray, etc) also use a SATA interface.

As for europeans, there are plenty of them here at NBR! Welcome :)
