Any e6400 users running an intel 520 SSD?

I've got a 120gb 520 ssd and the computer freezes 100% of the time when I hibernate the system and occasionally when I put it to sleep. I've confirmed this behaviour on two separate intel 520 drives from separate batches, and it happens on windows 7 or windows 8.

Anyone know how I can get into direct contact with an engineer at Dell or Intel?

Cuter, sorry. That was my only thought, if it wasn't AHCI.

    intel_graphics_screenshot.jpg

*edit: attached screenshot showing 2560x1440 on external monitor using E6400 as the 2nd (extended) display. Setup using Intel Integrated Graphics Console. Connected via displayport cable.

    Dellenware,

The ASUS monitor arrived this afternoon. The E6400 is displaying at 2560x1440 resolution on the external monitor. I set the ASUS as the primary and I closed the lid on the laptop. I havn't tried using extended display mode yet, using both the laptop and the external together. But so far so good while working just from the external at high res.

I had to use the Intel software instead of the usual windows display settings. I set the external monitor as the primary display and it recognized about 20+ resolutions to choose from with 2560x1440 as the max. I bet if you download the latest intel integrated graphics software you should be able to get your Adamo to display to the external in 2560x1600. If that still doesn't work then I would recommend updating the bios if you've not updated it in awhile, incase there has been video updates in the bios..

    power adapter question...

Can a 240 Watt AC adapter from a Dell M6500 be used with the E6400 connected to the E-Dock+? Or would that damage the E6400 by sending too much juice to it?

The reason I ask, we have an E6400 that will used primarily via the dock, but sometimes we will want to use the M6500 with the dock. Can I leave the 240w adapter plugged into the back of the dock all of the time, even when using the E6400? Should I be swapping in the 90w adapter into the dock when we use the E6400 and only use the 240w when the M6500 is on the dock?

    Thanks!

    Ben

You can always use a higher wattage adapter. The E6400 will only pull as much power as it needs.

Just replaced the thermal pad for the gpu with 0.5mm copper plate from ebay. Vola! it used to exceed at low 90sC with 4k videos. Now max at 62C or so. Yessssss.

You could try 0.6mm pads. I see very very very small gap for that headroom.

The plaguing heat issue is now gone. Core 1 is running 7C higher than core 0, but whatever.

There is a long thread for those who are interested on other mod on the E6400. Just google.

I used 0.8mm from ebay. GPU never goes above 72C even if left running video and cpu stress test for an hour. ambient temp around 22C. Fan at 5000rmp.

Prior to the mod, I was getting 90C+ on same test
