I presume Dell know what they are doing, but I am surprised to see parts such as:

listed in the above configuration. It's going to be a tight squeeze fitting the E6500's display into the E6400 but 15.4" display into the 14.1" chassis will be a first.

They did that to mine too. I'd say it is a typo. I'm still hoping to get your official numbers on the battery, John :D.

Those are some nice numbers sir! I look forward to hearing about the battery life with the 9 cell and X4500. Maybe you should spend the extra 100 on the 12 cell slice

Thank you! I've been working on this order for two weeks, and I think I'm seeing that work come to fruition now.

    I'm definitely ordering tomorrow.

As for the extra $100...I figured I'd get the E/Dock for $29 instead of $129 :D. Then get me the LCD stand (~$85)...oh, yeah. This $100 thing is of course assuming I use the $1581 deal, but I'm trying to get it on the lower priced deal too.

There is also a debate between the 2.53GHz P9500 and the 2.26GHz P8400.

I'm leaning towards the $1470 deal right now. But I'm working on it...

My conclusion is that 6 hours on 6 cell is the upper limit and requires economical usage and probably no wireless. 5 hours on 6 cells is a more realistic expectation with web browsing with wireless on. Battery wear will progressively reduce those numbers while intermittent usage with, for example, a 2 minute suspend timeout, will increase the overall time.

So if you want to think of all day operation without looking for a power socket then the 9 cell would be a better choice.

Got a ship notice from Dell yesterday. My E6400 should arrive via DHL today. I hope they don't mind the cleaning lady signing for it...
