Well Sony Z starts at about $1800 and comes with HDMI, I do not think Dell will price it's E4300 above that or they will shoot themselves in the foot.

I expect pricing for E4300 to start at 1500-1600 for a bare model.

The base Sony VAIO Z actually has some decent specs, for example, a P8400 processor and 2GB of DDR3 RAM, but I still think it's overpriced. But that's typical of Sony. I'm guessing Dell will definitely undercut Sony's pricing with the E4300.

I am in Colorado and it is delicious on a Friday straight from the kegerator :)

BTW, I need to check with my contacts, but I should be able to post up some pics next week. I have picks of the e4300 compared to my d630 and my wifes XPS m1330. Hopefully some better res pics will shed some more light on how chunky or oherwise these things are going to look.

I thought the displayport was only accesable on the dockingstation?

Thats my understanding as well. Displayport is on the 6400/6500, but not a port on the 4200/4300.

I dunno if you're an engineer for d311 or what, but why so few video-out ports on the E4200/4300? I mean, the docking station is nice and all, but I'd rather just pay an extra $100 to have hdmi/DP built in. Is it really that big a sacrifice in the size/weight dept to throw in another v-out?

And if your answer is 'well, it's the xps line that is designed for multimedia users' then can you say if there is a new 12" XPS machine anywhere on the horizon..?

I'm not an engineer, but from looking at the machines, I can tell you that there really isnt room for the ports without removing something else. I just dont see a physical location for where more ports could go.

This is just me as a business user of laptops for the most part, I really could care less for ports on an ultraportable machine with exception of a VGA for projectors (presentations) and usb for chargins external devices. I think that the VGA could be scrapped for HDMI/displayport in the future, but for my use, it would really be useless and make be get an adapter just to go back to VGA.

No idea on a 12 inch XPS, but it would be nice :) Who knows tho? Dell might be concerned with it eating into the sales of the 1330 tho. Maybe they will come out with a thinner and lighter m1330. I know the e series 13 inch version is already thinner and lighter , so they have the platform.
