Isn't the Z series a 13.3 inch screen laptop? It should match up to the e4300, right? Both low 3 pounders and with a preproduction unit, I was able to get 5.5 hours on the 4300 with the wireless radio on, but with everything else turned to lowest. Got about 3:30 playing a DVD. So maybe 90 Minutes of that time was watching the movie. that was wih he 6 cell battery. Not bad in my book. I would take 5.5 hours in real life versus 6 hours on paper any day.

Yes Sony Z series is a 13.1" LED screen laptop with 1600*900 optional.

Battery life is also expected around 5.5-6 hours.

Dell has eSata and backlit keyboard, which Sony doesn't. Sony has HDMI and hybrid graphics (X4500/ Nvidia 9300M).

if you care what your laptop looks like, you need to readjust your priorities. It's not like it's pink with glitter and sparkles on it. If it were, I'd still buy it if its performance was good enough, but I would understand if some were turned off. But, that is not even the case.

I've used Compaq business notebooks for the last decade, but I'm wavering between the 6930p and the Latitude E6400 for my next purchase. The big factors for me are going to be graphics power, sound, and expandability. I've heard some negative comments about the Radeon HD34xx chip in the 6930, which apparently is middle of the line at best for a machine in the 14.1" screen class. If HP has gone to a fixed optical bay on the 6930p, I won't buy it. Likewise if the 6930p has the same stupid offset speakers that the 6910p suffers from, I'll go with the E6400 which appears to have its speakers on either side of the keyboard. I'm reserving judgement until official specs and reviews of both machines, but for right now I'm leaning toward the E6400.

Let's hope Dell has implemented switchable graphics. The Sony keyboard really sucks though.

I have just tried to spec a Dell Precision M6300 on the UK website, and it says:

So maybe they are getting ready to show the M6400 :D

Or maybe the website is broken :(

Can someone speculate on the price ranges for the E series? Specifically the low/high end of a E4200/4300.

Does the Latitude line typically get discounts? I doubt there will be any at the start, but are there going to be % off coupons after a few months?

The Latitude line rarely gets discount coupons. Hopefully, I am mistaken and someone can help out with the Latitude deals :) I would think the E4300 will start around $2000 since it has 0-spindle (aka SSD) and is competing against the X300 and the E4200 will start around $1200 to compete against the X200.

    The 4300 is a 2 spindle and the 4200 is the 0 spindle. Hopefully the 4300 is $1200 :)
