Bought one of these from Dell Outlet. Solid build quality and pretty good battery life. Replaced a Dell Chromebook 13 which I'm giving to my parents since their laptop is on its last legs. One thing I found strange is when I have the latest Dell touchpad driver installed, the cursor tends to intermittently freeze and slowly wander in the general direction that I was going for a few seconds and then it becomes responsive again. I uninstalled the Dell driver and am currently using the Windows 10 driver and no issues with the touchpad. Has anyone else had a similar issue occur?

Would it be wiser to opt for an 850 EVO M.2 over the 950 Pro as most have suggested the laptop doesn't take full advantage of NVMe?

Can anyone confirm if a 42mm SSD will work in the WWAN slot ?

So this new model only has the ability to have one M.2 SSD? That's pretty terrible. The E7440 can do 1x mSATA and 1x 2.5" SSD/HDD.

What makes it so terrible? Should it support IDE as well since there was a 15 year old model that supported IDE? It's called progress. Compared to the E7440 I had this is more solid, faster, better battery, and generally just a better machine.

If you need all those connections, I am sure there is a different machine that will work for you. Chances are 99% of the people who buy this machine will never have any reason to have 2 drives.

Then get the E5470 which can take a M.2 2242 SATA SSD in the WWAN card slot.

the E7450 has WWAN slot but can't take m.2 2242 SATA (don't remember if anyone's try m.2 2242 mPCIe ssds)

    so yeah, it's unfortunate

Would like to discuss some details. First of all, here is another unmentioned 1080p LCD option for E7470: DP/N: 6J1Y3 BOE ENV140FHM-N43. It’s an ADS-type screen according to Panelook (one more marketing name for IPS) with quite good viewing angles and remarkably high brightness / contrast. As for colors, compared to E7450’s DP/N: GTKDY Samsung LTN140HL02-201 (PLS type - IPS version from Samsung), LTN feels more calm and maybe natural / neutral than ENV, while ENV is definitely brighter, crisper and way warmer, having good colors and angles as well. Maybe I just need to get used into it or try calibration.

One more interesting thing is that keyboard and touchpad don’t work after E7450 wakes from sleep mode as long as SATA controller is set to Disabled in BIOS (for those who use NVMe SSDs). I mean all keys will be unresponsive until restart. To prevent this from happening, SATA should be set to AHCI even if you’re on NVMe. Found it here actually: http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/laptop/f/3518/t/19675844

But the most interested part of above thread is about NVMe x4 mode on Latitude E5570. Some users confirmed full 32Gbps bandwidth via x4 link on their E5570 even considering that Dell states otherwise. So I am extremely curious, could anyone get x4 out of NVMe on E7470? It would be great to utilize all 4 lanes if possible to get near 2500MBps reads instead of approx. 1600...

And my last question is how to disable webcam completely? I am on current 14393.105 Windows build and 01.07.03 BIOS and even if webcam is disabled in BIOS, it still appears in Windows after every cold boot. The only way to disable it is to enter UEFI before loading Windows every time. In this case webcam won’t appear, otherwise it will be visible in Device Manager anyway. Tried resetting factory defaults, BIOS defaults, re-flashing BIOS with no success. Please share your ideas.

I noticed that my E5470 has a "BOE0653" Hardware ID for its LCD panel in Windows Device Manager. HWinfo app shows its manufacturer model as "NV14N43" and Dell P/N as "6J1Y3" so it appears we have the same LCD. Like you mentioned, most people talk about the LG or AUO 14" and 15" 1080p panels but looks like we have a less-common BOE 14" 1080p panel?

Yes, I immediately noticed how BRIGHT this panel can get. I can't use the max brightness indoors for more than a few minutes. I guess its nice to have the option for outdoors usage. Also agreed on the viewing angle, it appears to be very good. I can still see the text on the screen from a 160deg angle. Colors-wise my panel appears to be on the cooler / blue - side, but I guess I can calibrate it if I wanted too (I don't have a fancy colorimeter so would have to use some software tool).

Yes, you are correct, it is ENV140FHM-N43. Mine shown as BOE0653 as well.
