    Hello everyone!

In the past I had made some changes in the BIOS and I had selected that all these changes are saved in the default BIOS... Bad choice!
I remember that I was trying to install Windows 7 and for some reason I had deleted some boot options from the Boot menu. Now that I reset the BIOS, all these changes are not set back to manufacturer's default.

I tried to reset it by removing every battery from the laptop, but still no luck.
Can I somehow reset the BIOS to manufacturer's default?

Well, it's been four months so I think it's time to report back. I still love the E7470, I've used it exclusively for business and university. The only major problem I've had is a problem which seems very common with E7470's, which is an inability to run multiple monitors on a dock when using DVI. If I try to run multiple computer monitors using DVI cords the monitors start flashing and flickering.
I've also had a chance to use both the E7440 and E7450 and, to be honest, I don't see enough of an improvement to warrant the change. These are laptops built to get work done and, in that respect, are all pretty much equally capable. In fact, on occasion I still find myself preferring my E5440 to my E7470 because of the slice battery option, ability to dock issue free, multiple hard drives and swappable main battery.

Sitting here now with no problems running two monitors off of the docking station. One running 1920 x 1080 and the other 1920 x 1200. Both on DVI.

I've been talking with Dell on this. Anyone else has this?

The lights on the keyboard and the screen turn on randomly, when the laptop is not used. Just like when you press the touchpad, after the laptop is inactive for a few minutes.

Dell is going to propose a touchpad replacement, but I would not like to have it replaced if it is a general issue that could be caused by faulty drivers.

Have you tried uninstalling the current Dell touchpad drivers and just using the base Windows drivers? I'd give that a try and see if that makes any difference.

Nope... If I am not mistaken, Windows download the same touchpad drivers.
I have actually contacted Dell and we have arranged a visit from one of their technicians, so that they'll change the touchpad.

    Just a follow up...

Dell's technician visited me three days ago, and changed the whole cover, since the touchpad cannot be removed otherwise. The problem that I mentioned above has not reappaered since then, so I guess that the previous touchpad was malfunctioning. The new touchpad seems to has a different, more "rough" surface.

I was though -unpleasantly- surprised that an issue I had mentioned a few months ago here (having random BSODs) was back. The technician had screwed the bottom cover very tight which seems to lead to BSODs. Anyway, replugging it seems to fortunately work once again.

I killed my Latitude 7440 i7 by blowing canned air through the fan. I know the machine is dead because it won't even post. Now I have to buy a new motherboard.

Was the machine running when you did it? Some more details would be helpful to prevent others from doing the same.

The machine was off and unplugged at the time and battery was removed.
