Replacing doesn't look impossible, but certainly not as super simple if I could only find that elusive 1080p matte screen replacement instead.

Isn't this the hinge cover I need?

That's the hinge cover for the hinges on the 1366x768 assembly. If you just replace the LCD glass I don't see you needing the covers. I was strictly referring to replacing the whole top half with that of a touchscreen model. I recommend that route due to cost/simplicity.

Actually the description indicates that it's for the touchscreen E7240. There is a different part reference for the non-touch version E7240. Since the touchscreen/lid is what drives the thickness increase, it would seem to make sense, no?

And I'm preparing to replace the entire lid/lcd assembly (with the 1080P touch), as it seems to be the only way to get a 1080P panel on an E7240.
BTW, I see a 1080p direct drop in for the E7440 runs about $50. Drives me crazy I can't find the same in the 12.5".

I upgraded my E7240 to a 1080P Touchscreen. It wasn't that bad, other than you essentially dissemble the entire computer! There were 4 ribbon cables, but they proved pretty easy. I did have a 2nd one on my keyboard that the Parts People video did not show - luckily it just pulled itself out with no harm.

I purchased a used lcd assembly via eBay for $98. I could have bought new for the same via Ali Express, but long shipping swayed me - that and the ability to actually return it if it wasn't right. The new hinge cover was $25 with shipping - robbery! At the link I posted a couple posts ago.

The new screen has 5 antenna leads, which confused me at first - until I found an image online showing them not used - I assume it depends on the WiFi card. The bad thing is the connector on one of the leads I needed to use was missing (poor disassembly). Since my laptop was in pieces, I installed anyways, and plan to cut the lead off one of the unused antenna wires and solder it on. Amazingly enough, my WiFi signal is strong with only one lead connected at present!

Even more surprising is that Windows 7 touch works great, it just worked when I powered up! Someday my company will update to Windows 10.

I've been updating various drivers today, as my only issue is getting my laptop to switch from WiFi to Ethernet when I put my laptop in my docking station. So some setting/driver got a little unhappy, I guess. I'll get it fixed.

I'd probably source my part from Ali Express next time - the top of the lid is soft touch - mine is in pretty good shape, but new would be nicer :) My seller also sent me an E7440 14" at first by mistake, but quickly fixed it.

There is a weight increase - not huge, but it seems as though every ounce is critical in a laptop. I notice it.

Overall, I would have rather just had a 1080P non-touch matte LCD upgrade, but my search for the right part with a 200mm wide PCB proved fruitless. At least now I feel "special" with the unique cover and touchscreen.

Okay - it seems like my machine is now getting hotter, and the battery life shorter.

I followed this thread for a while, and there is some useful information in it. I understand a LCD for e7250 needs 2x3 screwholes, smaller PCB and of course an IPS panel (best is 1080P.) Difficult to get....
I found a link to a possible panel which would fit, what do you think? i asked if she can guarantee the panel is the same as te good looking one on the picture, so far no reply...

    https://hktrx.en.alibaba.com/produc....html?spm=a2700.7803228.1998738836.187.4jH9ya

What do you all think? It says its an SPB2, AUO panel?? but with 30 pins and looks a smaller PCB... Oh last question, if i will order an SPB1 768p ips screen, it says it has 262k colors, will i notice improvement over my ****ty TN panel which has also 262k, color-wise?

Edit: it looks like it has this panel: B125han02.[x] (fill in for x= 0,1 or 2), same types the latitude 7270 also has? (an AUO display...)

I've been looking for a FHD matte IPS screen for my second hand e7250. The stock screen is tearable but I like the size of the laptop itself. I was not interested in touch capabilities so a drop in replacement with good color was my goal. After a lot of digging around I ordered a LG LP125WF2-SPB4 from ebay. I'll report back once received the screen and install it.

Oh hopefully you will really get the right one also with small PCB. Do you have a link to the ordered one? I ordered a 768p screen, same as posted earlier...

I just got the screen and found it has the larger PCB like HeavenCry discovered. I will probably modify he laptop this weekend when i locate a epoxy that I can use to reinforce the hinge.

Earth4s, thats why i bought a LP125WH2-SPM1 display from Ebay (China). Took some time to arrive but assembled it today. Fitted as the original TN one. viewing angles are great, blacks not as on a xps 9350, but better as the TN, and colors also better. Total costs: 58 dollars. wished there were 1080p displays with perfect fits....
