    Hey guys,

Ive got two Latitudes here - an E7240 and E7250 and was wondering if anyone knew of a compatible panel (plug & play compatible) for these laptops, that would be FHD (1920x1080) and preferably IPS matte (non-glare).

Searching i found these two panels that look compatible to me, but im not sure...

    LP125WF2(SP)(B2)
    LP125WF2(SP)(B1)

The E7240 supposedly uses LP125WH2 (havent opened it up myself yet).

Anyone tried any of these or is able to deduce anything from the information available online?

Id like to get some info rather than blindly ordering them and trying (panels are expensive and i dont want to blow a fuse and burn the motherboard if its wired differently).

I cracked the screen open (on the E7240) and took some photos of the panel.

    The screen model is LP125WH2(TP)(F1).

According to panelook.com this model (LP125WH2-TPF1) has an eDP (1 lane) interface.

The difference i notice is the before mentioned panels i am considering (LP125WF2-SPB2 / LP125WF2-SPB1) have a 2 lane eDP interface.
Is it possible the laptop has 2 lanes and just uses one for the HD panel (a FHD touch panel is also an option - i assume its one of the above models with a digitizer layer and that one does need 2 lanes)?

And if i order it and try is there a possibility i could still fry something?

    *EDIT:
The connector cable has the following marking:
    VAZ50_NormaL_EDP_CABLE DC02C004Y00 REV:1.0(A00)

Googling the part number (DC02C004Y00) i found listings saying LVDS cable assembly as well as eDP and ones saying WXGA cable assembly... Dont know what to make of it...

Would i need a different cable or does the motherboard even support this or does the FHD touch model have a different cable and/or mobo to support it too?

Anyone out there whos more familiar with laptop panel interfaces?

If anyone is interested i scored a cheap LP125WF2-SPB1 panel (yes i knew it has more ghosting, but still a MAJOR upgrade to FHD IPS) and it works without any modifications.

Great work! I myself was looking into upgrading my e7240 screen from time to time since I've noticed that the i5 config has a higher resolution. A few months back I've noticed i7 e7240s with FHD displays for sale and started digging - found out that there is a difference in pins (the WXGA is 30pin and the WUXGA is 40pin) on the connector of the panel itself and left it at that. Today I remembered about it and came upon your posts.
From what I gather the touch panel and and the regular WXGA one have different harnesses - here's the one from the touchscreen:

    http://www.amazon.com/CKD2W-Latitude-E7240-TouchScreen-Ribbon/dp/B00UX20O92

    And here's the "normal" one:

    http://www.waresphere.com/store/dell-latitude-e7240-lcd-lvds-cable-assembly-jtjy5-dc02c004y00.html

Unfortunately I only have a wxga-screen laptop and I don't know if the motherboard connection is the same, although it looks the same from the pictures.

Now about that screen you found - I didn't catch what you mean - you have installed one into an e7240 without any modifications, is that correct? If so, how does it compare to the wxga screen - glare, brightness? Did you mean more ghosting compared to the WXGA or compared to a touch IPS? I'm mainly doing this for work, as I don't use the laptop for multimedia very often, so ghosting isn't exactly an issue, but sill...

The cable on the non-touch models differs from the touch models because those have the digitizer layer which needs a different cable. The panel of the touch models itself is the same one i bought, it just has an additional digitizer layer (glossy one).

But between the original HD screen and the screen i bought the connector is the same 30-pin eDP. So i simply swapped the screens, no modifications needed.

Comparison to the HD screen is night and day - its a very good IPS matte screen which means wide viewing angles, very good color reproduction, high brigtness and nice blacks. With ghosting i mean the FHD panel i bought has it just like the touch model - its the same panel Dell uses after all so you can read the reports. Its not bad at all - its only if you really look at fast moving images (gaming, action movies). It bothers some more than others - for my use as a business notebook for occasional multimedia its not a problem. The resolution and picture quality increase are damn well worth it.

Well that sounds good - care to share where you got yours? By the way from what I've read here and there both screens (B1 & B2) are used on the Lenovo X240 and Yoga, and the B2 / FRU 00HM745 is the one with less ghosting, as mentioned here:

    http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=113783&start=30

Anyway I'm really willing to give the whole thing a try - for me it's the same - I'm after the higher resolution. Thanks for the great info :)

I am interested if you changed the entire display assembly or just the LCD panel itself. Also if it has the touch digitiser did you remove that prior to installing or did it fit in like that?

    Thanks.

This is where i got mine: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Bran...im-led-display-LP125WF2-SPB2/32277090535.html

Yes, its the same panel x240 uses, and no, i did not change anything but the panel and i ordered a matte one, without the digitizer - i dont think that a version with the digitizer layer would work.
As i understand it, the panel is the same with the matte and touch version - the digitizer layer is bound to the same panel later in the production process instead of the matte film if they choose to make it a touch display, so be careful what you order.

And if youre buying ive got a spare E7240 for sale cheap i just put up on the marketplace here on NBR ;).
