Great Thread! I have a work-issued E7240 (and will have it for another 3 1/2 years!) and the wxga resolution is pretty old school. I was considering going to the 1080p touchscreen (i.e. a whole new screen/shell assembly), especially since I'll be on Windows 10 by years end. However I'm wondering if just going to this 1080P non-touch matte screen makes more sense? Of course it's much less expensive, and a much easier upgrade/install.
Difference in price is about $100 - I like the idea of touch, hate the idea of the glare, like the idea of the much simpler install....

Decisions decisions... The silly thing is that I use two 24" monitors with it most of the time at work - but that can change with future job changes. Probably the non-touch matte screen makes the most sense - cheaper, lighter, easier install... touch would mostly be a gimmick for my usage, and the glare would drive me insane...

A heads up to everyone - after buying a second panel (same part no.) i received one with a wider controller pcb on the bottom. The panel is the same model so i dont know what gives. This did require some precision dremel work on the top lid and hinges of my E7250. If anyone wants i can show exactly what needs to be done in this case.

    Well nuts....
Received my part today, same seller/part as HeavenCry The PCB is significantly wider on the bottom - seems like it would require too much mod to fit in my work-issued E7240.
Also, the screen was too tall, and had no attachment points at all on it (I.e. The frame has no attachments for the 2 screws on each edge)
    P125WF2(SP) (B2)
    P/N SD10A09866
    FRU 00HM745

So I'm thinking I'm screwed if I can't explain to the seller how they messed up, and what I really need.

HeavenCry - did you by chance documents any of the other numbers on your good part?

    Hey HeavenCry,

I want to upgrade my E7240 to IPS screen, I have option to buy two panels: FHD IPS LP125WF2-SPB1 and 768P IPS LP125WH2-SPT1

I see U wroted that FHD display maybe will need some modification, can U show this what U do with Your screen?

    Hello.

I am curious if the first screen was LP125WF2-SPB1 or LP125WF2-SPB2?

I might mean that the SPB1 is the one that fits.

Hey, i didnt document my modifications of the second screen, but it isnt for the fainthearted (i had to use a diamond drill to drill away the channels for wifi cabling to make space and cut a piece of both of the hinges - the inner screw was left out of commision but it didnt compromise stability).

I no longer have that E7250 (sold it a while ago), so i cant snap any photos anymore... To answer some questions regarding panel versions listed - the LP125WF2-SPBx has the right interface connector, but as i said, i have no idea what denominates the version with the wider pcb and without mountings and the version that fits without modifications. The LP125WH2-SPTx has a different interface - the second part (the SPTx or SPBx tells you that), the first part contains the resolution info in this case - H for HD or F for FHD. I got SPB1 with first one and SPB2 with second one (which is newer, i think current is SPB3 or SPB4) and both had image retention.

If youre still interested in doing this, i suggest you get a firm confirmation from the seller on the PCB width and mount type (you can check the interface by the part no. on panelook).

I am interested if the first panel you got that was the SPB1 you could fit without any mods.

Yes, the first panel was SPB1 and fit without mods, but again im warning you that its not bound to be like that - SPB1 and SPB2 are merely revisions of the same panel and i got different versions - you have to make sure the mountings are there and the PCB is the appropriate width. And know that SPB1 is bound to have quite severe image retention.

If anyone knows the exact screen that will fit without mods I'm very interested as I'm thinking about ordering one soon.
