I'm glad to see there is still discussion on this topic, but no real solutions that match my needs. My desire isn't so much IPS (but I'll take it!), as I need something better that the 768 resolution I currently have.
The only saving grace is that I use the screen on my laptop very minimally, mainly because I'm usually in my office with two external monitors.
I originally considered buying the 1080P Touch assembly (with lid), but knew it was going to require significant dis-assembly to route the correct video connector. A simple screen replace (without touch and matte) was the ideal - other than my replacement part didn't fit :( I'd love it if someone found where to source the right 1080p matte display.

I received the screen this week, installed it.

The screen does work on the laptop (e7240), but the PCB below the display panel is a bit wider on the IPS screen.

There are 2 notches on the LCD lid to guide the wifi cable. These notches does apply pressure on the PCB, so the bottom of my display is a bit thicker than with the original screen.

This is not only a cosmetic issue, as now, my screen would not close flat on my laptop. once closed, there is a gap of 3-4 mm to the palmrest
. Aside from the fact it is a bit odd to look at (especially if you have a little OCD), I think this also put pressure on the hinges (although not a lot).

Still, having an IPS screen on this laptop really is very cool, although my unit was not perfect (a group of pixel is not uniform when showing white, or pale color.

Note: The display is shipped with tool to install it, no need to bother with buying tools.

Hey guys, made an account to say thanks for all your help in this thread. Finally committed to an upgraded panel for my e7250. I went for the LP125WH2-SPM1 from here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00LNBRNM8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1. It fit without any modifications and is a nice and bright IPS panel with a resolution of 1366x768. It's also glossy, but nowhere near as glossy as a macbook. Id recommend buying from vtek over east coast, as east coast once sent me the wrong panel and then denied it was a mismatch and i had to go through amazon to get a refund.

Anyways, specs are here: http://www.panelook.com/LP125WH2-SPM1_LG Display_12.5_LCM_overview_20479.html. It's not top of the line, but for office usage and light gaming it's more than sufficient. viewing angles are fantastic and it's plenty bright, even compared to my wife's new macbook pro

As for the 1080p non-touch panel, i haven't had any luck finding one that would fit. Many of the better panels have a very wide base that won't fit the e7250 without major surgery.

This is my first post here so hello everyone. To back up csih, I have a Latitude E7250 that originally had the 1366x768 display and was successfully able to upgrade it by replacing the display/lid assembly with that of an FHD touch model. Touch screen and display work just fine; in fact the difference between the FHD IPS display and the WXGA display is like night and day. However, as he noted, you'll need to replace the hinge covers too if you go this route; the stock hinge covers from the WXGA model won't fit over the hinges on a touch panel. Unfortunately, said hinge covers seem to be next to impossible to find on the internet. I've personally opted to just live with exposed hinges but some may find that unacceptable.

Also, on a side note, the FHD touch panel assembly seems to incorporate a higher resolution webcam than the WXGA non-touch models.

I thought I'd throw this out here because complete FHD touch assemblies tend to go around $100 to $150 on eBay which isn't much more than the cost of some of the LCD panels that have been mentioned here.

Well I'm back in the game to do this - we're going to an "open office" environment, no assigned seating, and my laptop will need to be my 2nd screen (vs. having two 24" displays with a docking station now)!.

I too, have seen the pricing continue to fall for the entire lid/screen assemblies. I even watched the disassembly video again a few weeks ago - I don't believe there are too many things that don't have to come apart for this surgery!.

What did you do about the display connectors? The connectors that come with the lid/lcd assembly have a home on the motherboard for my 1366/768 model?

This will probably confuse the heck out of the IT people when it gets replaced in a couple years - but if I do this, pretty sure I won't be changing it back!

The motherboard connectors are the same. Swapping the 768 panel for the 1080 panel is just a matter of undoing some screws. The only trouble you might encounter is in finding the correct hinge covers. The hinge covers on the 768 panel equipped laptops won't fit after installing the 1080P touch panel.
