    Hello !
Does anyone know the battery compability ?
Dell sells battery for the e6440 (and e6540) WT5WP but... also for e6420(/30) and e6520(/30) 2P2MJ where the compatibility with the e6440 is clearly indicated.
The M1Y7N is also indicated to work on both e6440 and e6420(/30)
So ... does both batteries work for the whole serie ? or only both for the e6440 and only the second fort the e6xx0, or only the first for the e6440 and the second for the e6x20 to e6x30 ?

    My E6440 came with a 71R31 and the E6430 had a M5Y0X.
Dell seems to have a lot of part numbers, it's so confusing...
They both look identical to me, but the new 71R31 has a slightly better capacity. (8700mAh compared to 8.55Ah)

By the way: E6420/E6430 keyboard works fine in E6440.

Let's see how the systems do, from the appearance I like them much better than the E6420 and E6430.
It kind of reminds me of my E6410 which I really like :)

I am not a native speaker myself, maybe I made some grammar mistakes.

As I've not much experience with the systems yet, I can't say if I will start disliking it after some time for whatever reason.
One negative aspect is, that there are no options for a Nvidia GPU anymore.
I am also not sure if the wireless switch will last long, as it seems very cheap compared to the older models...

But I think the chassis is a lot nicer than the one used for the E6420/E6430.
E6400/E6410 was looking much better in my opinion compared to E6420/E6430.
The E6440 is again an optical appealing system :)

The M5Y0X battery seems to work fine in the E6440.
Gave it a quick try and entered the Bios, no issues were displayed during POST or in the Bios.

    Hi everyone.

The rubber around the edge of the screen bezel of my 6440 is coming off/loose on a few points around the screen. Any one else having the same problem?

And any solutions to this problem?

    Cheers

    Hello

Does anyone know how to stop charging the battery while the notebook is plugged with power cord? I pressed Fn+F2 on my 6410 to achieve that but it does not seem to work on my new 6440. Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance !

Does anyone know how i can fit a normal HDD in this laptop?
Ive installed a Samsung 840 EVO msata 250Gb and purchased a Western Digital 750Gb Black HDD but the existing black rubbers dont fit the drive. :(
The hardrive on its own is too loose to insert as is, does anyone know how i can fit this in or has anyone fitted one successfully?
    Thanks

I have one of those that I use with my E6430. Will try that on an E6440 when I head home later and let you know
